A really good example of 'a gun in the hand is better than 9-1-1 on the phone.'

But also this.....granted many if not most crimes like this are men against women, however who is to say that somebody with a weapon; any weapon; couldn't do this to someone; man or woman; who is, say, broken down on the interstate or loading a vehicle in a store parking lot?

We, Maryland specifically, need to pester the s**t out of our state gov't to pass better laws that allow citizens to better defend themselves.
After all, the criminals don't have a hard time obtaining and carrying guns; why should the rest of us?

I was told a while back, 'if you're gonna shoot somebody breaking into your house, make sure he's inside before you 'drop' him.'
In my mind that makes it easier to explain to the cops why there's a dead guy in your living room/bedroom/whatever, if he's lying on the broken glass from the window he busted to get in.
