Southern Maryland Food Banks?

Hi everyone,

I am searching for food banks in and around Charles Co, for volunteer opportunities for me and my 13 year old son. I'm having a hard time finding any that accept volunteers in southern MD, and the ones in DC are booked in terms of needing anyone for quite some time (on the evenings or weekends, when my son isn't in school). Any info would be appreciated!

Why does it have to be a food bank? Have you contacted your church about where volunteers might be needed? Or check with Habitat for Humanity? I'm sure if you look hard enough, you'll find a place to volunteer.

How about a local rescue squad/fire department? If you don't want to run the calls, there is plenty of other stuff to do or you could join the auxillary. They do fund raising for the local community squads and could use all the help they can get.
