"From the You’ve Got To Be Kidding Me File, Donald Trump barfed out a tweet on Thursday in which he simultaneously stoked unnecessary fear of an Ebola outbreak in the United States and said that Americans abroad shouldn’t be allowed to get treatment in the U.S.
And just to make sure he got it all out, on Friday morning he stuck his finger down his throat to induce a second round of retching.
Trump is referring to the imminent return of American citizens Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol from Liberia so that they can receive treatment for the Ebola virus, which they’ve contracted. On Thursday night, a special medical charter flight left Catersville, Ga. bound for Liberia to bring the two to Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital, which specializes in highly infectious diseases.
In other words, Trump wants them to forgo the opportunity to get treated at one of the highest rated hospitals in the U.S. and instead get it “over there” — presumably meaning Liberia, which is one of the most impoverished countries in the world and has a life expectancy of about 60.
So for Trump, increasing Brantly’s and Writebol’s chances of survival isn’t as important as, well, what exactly? What is Trump so worried about?
What these tweets indicate is that he seems to think Brantly and Writebol are just going to coast into Hartsfield-Jackson airport, waltz through customs, and go on with life as usual as they come into contact with thousands of their unsuspecting fellow Americans. And if you think that’s what’s going to happen, you’re just as big of an idiot as he is."
