Anti-Fossil Fuel Demonstration a Bust… Due to Lack of Fossil Fuel Power
When a group of renewable energy demonstrators attempted to protest a Wisconsin-based power company last week, they ran into an unexpected roadblock.
The protestors seemed to have everything in place to stick it to Madison Gas & Electric for its supposed bias towards fossil fuels, including a spiffy, giant balloon in the shape of a coal plant.
There was just one problem: their wind- and solar-powered balloon wouldn’t stay inflated. Because their renewable energy power sources were insufficient.
Here’s how it went down, according to our friends at Hot Air, on the local news broadcast:

Reporter: The same protestors who opposed MG&E for not using more renewable energy admitted they would typically plug the fan into a gas powered generator, or into an outlet that would likely be powered by a reliable energy source like MG&E.
Protestor 1: This is the first time we’ve ever done it this way.
Protestor 2: We’d usually use generators or they’d hook it up to an electric outlet.
