St. Mary's County Public Schools: 2 hour delay with a Code 1 for employees.

UPDATE - Calvert County Public Schools: closed (Code Yellow for 12-Month Employees)

Charles County Public Schools: 2 hour delay with Code 2 for staff.

College of Southern Maryland will open at 11:30 am today.

St. Marys College will open at 10 am. All 8:00 am and 9:20 am classes are canceled.

NAS Patuxent River is open on a 2-hour delayed arrival schedule for Monday, March 2. Admin leave will be granted for the hours before the set delayed arrival. Critical employees must report to work as previously scheduled. All other employees may take unscheduled leave, telework or leave without pay (LWOP) for the entire day. Employees choosing not to use unscheduled annual leave, telework, or LWOP for the entire workday should report 2 hours later than 7 a.m., or 2 hours later than their regular arrival time, if their regular arrival time is after 7 a.m. Notify your supervisor of your intentions as soon as possible.

Additional assessment on actual road conditions will take place early Monday morning with an update around 7 a.m. March 2

Winter storm warning in effect until 3 am est monday

Tonight...Cloudy. Freezing rain likely with possible drizzle... Freezing drizzle and rain this evening...Then areas of drizzle and freezing drizzle after midnight. Additional ice accumulation around a trace. Lows in the upper 20s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.

Monday...Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 40s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Charles County

Charles County Government will open on time today, Monday, March 2, with the liberal leave policy in effect for all non-essential employees. Essential personnel and employees required to maintain operations during inclement weather are to report to work as scheduled.

VanGO transit service will operate on a two-hour delayed schedule on Monday, March 2, 2015. For updated information on service schedules and routes, call the VanGO inclement weather hotline at 301-934-9305 ext. 5179.

MTA MEDIA ADVISORY

"MTA Light Rail passengers should be prepared for long delays as Sundays ice storm has severely limited service. A bus shuttle has been established from the Hunt Valley station to North Avenue on the northern end of the MTA service area. A bus shuttle has been established from North Avenue to the Cromwell station and the BWI extension on the southern end of the MTA service area.

MARC Penn and Camden Line service will remain on their regular schedule but Brunswick Line service Train 800 will operate with a 45-minute delay from Brunswick Station because the Federal Government is operating with a 2 hour delay.

MTA Local Bus is operating with some delays and street diversions around the city to avoid steep hills and valleys.

We ask that customers allow extra time to get to their destinations today and take extra care on the streets and while approaching their station platforms.

UPDATE
MTA Light Rail service remains disabled due to icing of overhead power lines. Bus shuttles have been established to transfer customers along the Light Rail service area.

St. Mary's County

The St. Mary’s County District Court will open at 11 a.m. with court sessions to begin at 11:30 a.m.

St. Mary’s County Government Operational Status for March 2
Roads and walkways across the county are reported to be slick and ice covered following yesterday’s inclement weather. A fog advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution when venturing out this morning.

Because of yesterday’s storm, the following delays and schedule changes are in effect for today:
  • All St. Mary’s County Administrative Offices will open at 10 a.m.
  • All St. Mary’s county Public Schools will operate on a two hour delay. Full day Head Start will also have a two hour delay. A.M. Pre-Kindergarten and A.M. Head Start students will not have school. However, there will be classes for P.M. Pre-Kindergarten and P.M. Head Start students. The school system will reassess road conditions by 7 a.m. which may lead to a change in schools status.
  • All Recreation and Parks Before Care programs operating in the Public Schools will be delayed two hours (subject to change if schools according to schools status).
  • Recreation and Parks facilities, including the Leonard Hall, Margaret Brent, Carver and Hollywood Recreation Centers, Chancellor's Run, Gymnastics Center and Great Mills Swimming Pool, Wicomico Shores Golf Course and Riverview Restaurant, and museums will open at 10 a.m.
  • Non-Public School transportation will operate on a two hour delay (subject to change)
  • STS Transit will begin operations at noon
  • All three Senior Activity Centers (Garvey, Loffler and Northern) will open at 10 a.m. Meals will be available at the centers and home delivered at well.
  • All St. Mary’s County Library locations (Charlotte Hall, Leonardtown and Lexington Park) will open at 11 a.m.
  • St. Mary’s County Circuit Courthouse will open at 11 a.m. Court sessions will begin at 11:30 a.m.
  • All College of Southern Maryland campuses will open at 11:30 a.m.
  • NAS Patuxent River will operate on a two hour delayed arrival schedule (subject to change)

St. Mary’s County Government will provide additional updates when warranted.
