It's gonna happen more and more.
We've spent 15 years dismissing all this as just 'terrorists' and 'thugs' and 'extremists' and refuse to even begin to consider who, what and why. There are signs we're starting to get to know our enemy but, probably too little too late.
Anything fundamentalists tends to appeal to young men who have no purpose, no direction, no good sense of self worth. "Terrorists' are idle rich kids. They are middle class like Attah who are disillusioned with materialism and what they see as corruption and vulgar.
It's why Islam has long appealed to guys in jail; it gave them purpose, reason.
In a US that is about vacuous vanity, being on American Idle, cars, base music, making money over anything else, young men seek purpose. Frankly, I'm surprised it's not more based on how much we've ignored it.
You and I may know that, at the end of the day, any power structure becomes full of crap and interested only in self preservation, principles be damned but young men don't get that. Especially anyone more inclined to or predisposed to Islam.
