Change of Venue (Baltimore City Officers)

~~~~~~~
A change of venue is the legal term for moving a trial to a new location. In high-profile matters, a change of venue may occur to move a jury trial away from a location where a fair and impartial jury may not be possible due to widespread publicity about a crime and its defendant(s) to another community in order to obtain jurors who can be more objective in their duties. This change may be to different towns, and across the other sides of states or, in some extremely high-profile federal cases, to other states. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Change_of_venue)
^ I am posting this for those that may not understand what that means.
I think a majority of us can agree that if you were one of these Baltimore City officers, you would ask for a change of venue.
I doubt they would go into the direction of Western Maryland or the Eastern Shore. I would think they would want to avoid Republican leaning counties. I think if I was the attorney, I wouldn't want to go to Prince George's County either or even the Baltimore surrounding counties.
I was thinking today Frederick, Annapolis and Charles County could be possibilities where these cases could be moved.
My gut says Charles County could be a very strong contender.
:gossip: It's like 60% black. I'm sure the Baltimore States Attorney would love the drive to get a jury in Chuck Co.
Her nails might not be so pretty if that is what she has to do for a while.
And yeah, I notice things like that. :lol:
St. Mary's County is nearly 80 percent white with Calvert slightly higher. In fact, Frederick might be too white at 83 percent so I'm scratching them off the list. P.G. County is too black but according to the numbers, Charles County might be close enough to 50/50 which is just right.
Charles County went for Obama and it went for Hoyer so it and PG are pretty much alike.
Over the next two weeks, court hearings will be held to consider several key issues in the Gray case, including whether charges should be dismissed, whether Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby should be recused and whether the trials should be moved out of Baltimore. The first is scheduled for Wednesday.
A change of venue may help the police officers, but it will not help Baltimore if the police officers walk.
