Will be hitting Zurich, Switzerland, Vienna, Austria, and Stuttgart, Germany in a couple months.

Any "must see/do" things over there?

I camped in a tent for a month in Germany during Oktoberfest in the late 90’s, what a hoot! Going to the top of the Alps was something I remember doing that was cool; there was a large golden cross on top that was full of bullet holes. The tour guide said that it was a target for pilots during WWII and every year a stupid tourist tries to go out and touch it never to be seen again. The concentration camps are sobering, hard to believe that something like that could happen in such a beautiful place.

I'd love to head to the Alps, but we only have a few short hours layovers in Zurich and Vienna.

Drink the beer.....:buddies:

That's a given.

Drop into the Zwölfzehn club in Stuttgart, I believe Lili Von Shtupp is still performing there.

Where are you flying in and out of? How will you be getting around? Car or trains? There is so much to see...

To be more specific, where are you landing and departing in Europe?

The cities mentioned in the OP.

Dulles ---> 4.5 hour layover in Zurich ---> Germany for the week.

On the way home it's: Germany ---> very short (less than an hour) in Vienna, so probably can't do much there. ---> Dulles

Frankfurt? Berlin? Munich? What city/airport do you land and what city/airport do you depart?

I got nothing because I've never been to any of those countries, but I hope you have an amazing time. That sounds like a wonderful trip!

Land and leave in Stuttgart.

Thanks, that's better. I have been there twice so it gives me a better idea. First time was landing in Frankfurt and departing in London. Last time was Frankfurt/Frankfurt.

Try and take the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romantic_Road it takes you through some back highways. Make a stop in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rothenburg_ob_der_Tauber, then to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuschwanstein_Castle, from there go south into Switzerland to http://www.myswitzerland.com/en-us/lucerne.html then continue to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matterhorn in the Alps.

Just a few other ideas http://www.austria.info/us

It was only in the OP.

 Thank you, I'll look into those for sure. I'll be staying with a friend, so I'm sure she'll have a few things on her list.
