A military dog which saved more than a thousand lives has tragically passed away.

Buster, an arms and explosives sniffer from the UK, was a heavily medaled service dog, going on five tours of duty in Afghanistan, Bosnia, and Iraq. He is credited with saving over a thousand lives while on service.

In 2003, Buster was award the Dickin medal for his incredible feats.

Recently retiring, the dog has been living at home with Flight Sergeant Will Barrow who wrote a bestselling book about his adventures with Buster.

In an official statement, the RAF said that they would be "arranging a special event to celebrate RAF Police Military Working Dogs which will give the Force an opportunity to remember those special companions that have saved thousands of lives and served so admirably."
