I guess I'm not picking up what you think makes her particularly "lucky"..and I've been boating in/through that area many times. I'm guessing that the jellyfish could have been the reason she could not or did not try to swim to shore. Or didn't have a life jacket on. OR both.

I've heard they are thick up river this year even though surprisingly few of them are in the lower Potomac and lower Chesapeake.

That she did not drown and die from any of the above since it also happened at night. She was Lucky.
