Donations to military vets organizations

Anyone know of any military vets organizations in the St. Mary's/lower Calvert County areas that accept and will pick-up used furniture, electronics, beds, etc.? Tried AMVETS and they only come as far as Waldorf.

We use Purple Heart. Have donated household goods, as well as, my beloved 1995 Land Rover Discovery. They pick up and call every few months to check if you have anything once you have donated. Salvation Army is always a good bet even though it is not strictly military like you are looking for. They donate 98% to charity and the CEO makes no money. There is a Salvation Army in LaPlata.

Edit: My hub is even looking it up now. He is not finding a lot that is local. Semper Fi Fund is the best rated, but can't find that it is local.

Ah Oh. Hub did more research. Purple Heart gets an
F and so does AMVET. I guess it is hard to donate anymore. :frown:

Maybe this is the way to go. Charlotte Hall Veterans Home:

I've been looking at Southern Maryland Veterans Association. Can't find any reviews on it. It's purely local. Had a long chat with a person who volunteers for them, and he is quite committed. They find ways to house homeless vets, provide for them, and help them stand on their own. I am drawn to what he shared, but have not yet done further research. If it is as advertised, it will get my support. Not much web presence, but there have been news stories, and there is a facebook page.
