Vatican Arrest Two for Leaking "Confidential Information"

Whistle blower protection, anyone?

Things are getting a bit touchy and personal now in the ol' enclave since the previous pope retired, and the Vatican made it a crime in 2013 to tell the truth of what is happening on the inside.

Stop salivating like a dog. You have no vested interest in such things aside from a sordid desire for Vatican gossip. To say that the Vatican made it a crime to tell the truth is misleading at best and deceiving at worse. It would behoove you to remember what Paul says about gossips and scandalmongers.

Salivating?:lmao: Vatican gossip?:lmao: Do you read the news? Front page, below the fold here, as in other publications. Probably buried in about page 18 below the fold next to some quarter page ad up there in catholicland.

Read the article I linked - the Vatican made it a crime to do such in 2013. That was the NY Times, btw, a not so non-catholic area.

"Divulging confidential documents has been considered a crime in the Vatican since July 2013, after the leak of a cache of Vatican documents, including personal papers belonging to Benedict, which Mr. Nuzzi published in a best seller, “Sua Santità,” or “His Holiness.”

Remember what Paul said? (I don't know what kind of emoticon to place here). I believe another good catholic poster on this same forum told me not too long ago that I should call my church something like "The Church Of Paul" (I won't divulge the name, you can backtrack and find it, but I think the initials were onel), simply because much of our church doctrinal statement of a NT church is based on the preachings of Paul, as is half of the NT.

Try to spin it however you want, radi. It is what it is, but probably not to many like you. Reality.

Salivating? You really need to get a life, if that is possible. Preferably one that is based on scripture.:buddies:

Sharing information that the government does not want shared is OK? I will let Private Manning and Mr. Snowden know that you are on their side.

So now, a religious organization is a government? Doesn't that that sort of scare you?

Nothing to do with being on anybody's side. Simply absolute refusal from the catholics to even acknowledge what the haps are. And you, really despaired, what is your amusement in this?

Please, please, let your access to Snowden and Manning (whoever it is today) be made public.

In the meantime, just let what is be what is. Don't throw other hypotheticals into it.

Why Vatican arrests will backfire

The speed with which whistleblowers were investigated and arrested contrasts with the glacial pace at which Vatican reforms take place and the mild punishments meted out to those accused of economic irresponsibility. The incident seems to suggest a pattern in which the church is more interested in punishing those who breach confidentiality than those who are financially corrupt.

If only the victims of the Catholic Church's sexual abuse got the same speed of justice which means the Church is more concerned about themselves than other less fortunate people.

Oh, yeah. Way beyond that. A sovereign that rules by their religious beliefs. Are you down with that? How abut the caliphate ruling any country, according to the vatican?

Come on, onel - you can do better than that. But probably not. Are you down with the US being ruled by Christianity?

my point is, as a sovereign nation, the leadership can do what they want to protect info. Like it or not this IS the case

Like it or not, onel, the vatican - your love relation - is open to scrutiny and inspection for all to see. Whether you good catholics like it or not.

Just deal with it now - it will probably not be what you want it to be in the near future. Clean up your house before you tell others what to do.

Ok, I can't see you to tell if you're actually salivating, but you certainly come across as if you are. My warning to you about scandalmongering still holds. You might want to wipe that drool from your chin.

Yes I read the article and yes I know it was the New York Times. What I was referring to was your mention that the Church outlawed the truth. Your penchant for exaggeration would make you a good headline writer for Star Magazine.

I'm thinking by your stance that you would be ok if I took your private writings, journal, diary or whatever without your permission and published it with twisted facts for personal financial gain and that it should be perfectly legal for me to do so. If so, then hand over your journal I have some work to do.

You're right, it is what it is, but I certainly didn't think I was the one twisting things. :eyebrow:

To a certain degree, yes, it's open to scrutiny and this wouldn't be the first time reform from within has taken place. In fact, most of those reformers became saints. (Reformers not to be confused with Protestants of course.) At this point in time it's a good chance that Francis will be declared a saint in the future.

As for cleaning up your own house, you should do the same. Unlike yourself, Catholics aren't prone to tell others what to do, and this forum is ample evidence of that, so don't be a hypocrite.

And if your pope is not already a saint, what is he? The Bible tells me, as written by Paul, all believers are saints. So the previous popes, and saints that were not popes, are all superior to the current pontif that you take your marching orders from.

Wow. Jesus the sacrificed must really be proud of his true followers of the catholic church. Just chomping at the bit to let ya'lls in.

Sad testimony for your church. You believe in Jesus as yur savior, but do not believe in your sainthood and priesthood, as written by your saint Paul?

Fantastic testimony for the sacrifice of Jesus for your salvation.

Francis, by your estimate, has a "good chance" of being declared a saint?:lmao:

If he isn't "declared a saint", then why was he a pope in the first place, and why do you follow him instead of God?

Unbelieveable,

Securing sainthood is a commercial process that can cost up to €750,000 in fees paid to a Vatican department that refuses to account for its spending.

That is one of the revelations contained in Merchants in the Temple, a new book to be published tomorrow lifting the lid on financial skulduggery and corruption in the Vatican.

http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/world/europe/article4603857.ece

Looks like I might just buy the book.

God bless the USA
And why I am so glad I live in America!

Uhhhh...did you check out Obama lately, or our do nothing Congress, except getting things passed that weren't read, or not stopped? We are heading that way. Where will you live after America goes to pot, so to speak? Just a question because your post caught my eye.
