Vegetairan diets are bad for the environment

I sure hope Obama outted the tree-huggin', granola eatin' planet destroyers at the Climate Control Summit! :faint:

Eating a healthier diet rich in fruit and vegetables could actually be more harmful to the environment than consuming some meat, a US study has claimed.

Lettuce is “over three times worse in greenhouse gas emissions than eating bacon”, according to researchers from the Carnegie Mellon University who analysed the impact per calorie of different foods in terms of energy cost, water use and emissions.

I promise you I can produce a pound of lettuce far cheaper and with far less impact on the environment than anyone can produce a pound of bacon.

The link was yet another stunningly gummed up sack of auto load crap so, I gave up but the best I could make out of it was they are comparing calories, ie, the impact of enough lettuce to equal a given quantity of calories and that is a bull#### comparison. You don't eat lettuce for calories. You eat it for vitamins and minerals and roughage.
