Suspect Charged with Abusing Seven-Month-Old

On January 5, 2016, detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit and investigators from the Department of Child Protective Services responded to Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. for the report of an injured infant.

The investigation revealed the victim, a seven-month-old, was examined at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital for a head injury. Subsequently, the victim was flown to Children's Hospital for further treatment where doctors determined the injuries were the result of a battered baby.

The victim remains in critical condition at Children’s Hospital.

Detectives determined injuries were caused by the suspect, Nathan Allen Bailey, age 30 of Mechanicsville. Bailey ignored signs the victim was in distress and routinely dropped the victim off at daycare. After observing the victim display signs of injury, the daycare provider sought medical assistance.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Bailey. He was located, placed under arrest, and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He has been charged with First Degree Assault, Child Abuse, and Child Neglect.

Bailey is being held on a $1,000,000 bond.

Death would be too easy on him. I hope he rots in jail as some Bluto's boy toy.
