Preliminary Cause: Under Investigation

Additional Information: A passer-by was driving through the area and observed light smoke coming from the vacant house and called 9-1-1. The Fire Department arrived to find an old mattress smoldering inside the structure. The investigation is continuing.

Type of Incident: Boat Fire

Description of Structure / Property: 1991 28' Carver Boat

Owner / Occupants:

Injuries or Deaths: Nona

Discovered By: Boaters at Aqualand Marina

Area of Origin: Stovetop in the galley

Preliminary Cause: Under investigation

Additional Information: Nearby boaters at the Aqualand Marina observed smoke coming from the vessel, which was docked to a pier, and called 911. The fire department arrived and extingushed the fire which was contained inside the galley area. The cause of the fire continues to be investigated. Anyone who has any information about the fire is asked to call the State Fire Marshal's Office at 443-550-6832.

Location / Address: 12150 Acton Lane, Waldorf, Charles County, Maryland

Type of Incident: Fire

Description of Structure / Property: 9000 sq ft Warehouse

Owner / Occupants: Marjam Supply Company

Injuries or Deaths: None

Estimated $ Loss: Structure: $50,000.00 Contents: $50,000.00

Preliminary Cause: Accidental

Additional Information: The fire was the result of a lightning strike along the roof of the warehouse. The fire extended into one of the storage bays; however, it was extinguished by the sprinklers before causing significant interior damage.

Injuries or Deaths: 70 year old female with burn injuries flown to MedStar Washington

Preliminary Cause: Under Investigation

Additional Information: The 911 Center received a call for an alarm at the residence. The Calvert County Sheriff's Department arrived at the residence first and found heavy smoke conditions, as well as the burn victim. This incident is currently under investigation. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Southern Regional Office, at 443-550-6832.
