Quite frankly, Donald Trump killed Atlantic City. Have you been there?
Actually lived there briefly. Ok, Ocean City NJ. Same area. My BIL was a developer there. Made a tidy sum in the early 80's when Atlantic City was growing.
He did not kill it.
For one thing, Atlantic City was in decline for decades. Lots of things contributed to it. Bear in mind, it wasn't a mecca for gamblers - legally - until the 70's.
Prior to that, it was just a destination for entertainment. What killed it was competition in the 50's, 60's and 70's, and later lost out to legalized gambling elsewhere.
It's ridiculous to think one man ruined a city because of a few establishments.
Frankly, a man's personality doesn't do anything for me as to my vote. I have no doubt that Bill Clinton or Joe Biden would be friendly people to be with - but it's what they do and accomplish that matters.
I know we've somehow arrived at this idea of what is "presidential" - an idea that really hasn't played much into elections in adult life. It's really just a way to take a shot at Trump's well known abrasive - and practiced - public image. I don't care much for it as an idea because we've had leaders who smile but curse you behind your back. It's well known that the Clintons and Obamas do not like each other - but they present this wonderful appearance of friendship in public. I'd rather someone just be candid about it, even if it's ugly.
Generally, I've noticed THIS pattern, which works in politics and in your workplace - you want the friendliest, most understanding boss immediately above you. Your supervisor. The one who deals with you directly. But you absolutely want a son of a bitch at the top - the one who's going to fight for you. The company president. The division chief. Because his job isn't to be nice to you. His job is ultimately to protect you.
