They're meaningless now because Barry gives one to every celebrity and sports figure he likes, even if they have no other accomplishments. In fact, Obama has given out more PMFs than any other president. What we'll notice is that he gives them like candy to TV producers and musicians, but he has given the least awards of any president to...military people.

Just an observation.

Well that's because we have no wars now and things are so peaceful under Barry's administration.

Does purple really mean sarcasm?

Oh my lord. Are you already overdosing on tryptophan?

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is a CIVILIAN award. (didn't know that? Didn't bother to look it up?)

Didn't bother to look up this year's nominees either? https://www.whitehouse.gov/campaign/medal-of-freedom :

Grace Hopper (posthumous)

Rear Admiral Grace Hopper, known as "Amazing Grace" and "the first lady of software," was at the forefront of computers and programming development from the 1940s through the 1980s. Hopper’s work helped make coding languages more practical and accessible, and she created the first compiler, which translates source code from one language into another. She taught mathematics as an associate professor at Vassar College before joining the United States Naval Reserve as a lieutenant (junior grade) during World War II, where she became one of the first programmers of the Harvard Mark I computer and began her lifelong leadership role in the field of computer science.

Newt Minow

Newt Minow is an attorney with a long and distinguished career in public life. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, Minow served as a Supreme Court clerk and counsel to the Governor of Illinois. In 1961, President Kennedy selected Minow, then 34, to serve as Chairman of the Federal Communications Committee (FCC), where he helped shape the future of American television and was a vigorous advocate for broadcasting that promoted the public interest. In the five decades since leaving the FCC, Minow has maintained a prominent private law practice while devoting himself to numerous public and charitable causes.

You will note that these folks were awarded not for their military service but for their other public service. Why? Because it is a civilian award.

How hard can it be to look sh!t up before making such stupid commentary? (That's a question...and an observation)

Why look it up? Do you honestly think - IN THIS COUNTY - that we ALL don't know it already?
Or are you not from a military family?

How hard is it to re-read Vrai's post and realize at no point did she indicate that military members ought to be the prime candidates for the Presidential Medal of Freedom?

TJ's problem isn't in reading, it's in comprehension .

Robert De Niro?????? What did he ever do besides use the F word in every movie he ever made, and endorse Hillary.
Diana Ross Well She's black.
Ellen Degenerate for being a Lesbian.
Kareem Abdul Jhabar for playing Basketball, Obama's favorite sport.

Yeah good choices.

Red Buttons never got a medal, or dinner either.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYMaUFmfHHw

Always thought they were for heroic acts, not just another self congratulatory Hollywood award, guess I was wrong.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom given by Obama is about as good as the Nobel Prize he got.

The Nobel peace prize became worthless when they awarded Yasser Arafat.

Essentially making it as valuable as Dexter Manley's diploma.

I could make an argument that arrafat (try spel cheking that for a cheap laugh) was at least fighting for something that would bring peace, however poorly. President Obama got his while actively escalating a war whose only point was violence.
