11 ways President Obama absolutely destroyed the Democratic Party

Hillary Clinton has been controversial since college, and nominating her certainly did the Democrats no good. Looking back, you can see that she didn’t promote outlandish things while on the stump. She sounded like an old-time Democrat, a God-fearing white pantsuit-wearing smiler of smilers.

It’s just, well, America wasn’t fooled.

But it wasn’t just that Hillary was so bad that Republicans won. It was that Obama was so bad, America couldn’t see how they would improve with four more years of numbskull policies that didn’t benefit regular Americans to begin with.

While Barack Obama has less than two months left in his failed presidency, let’s review why so many traditional Democratic voters have abandoned the Democratic Party.

1. Cash for Clunkers

See, when a clunker was turned in, it was made inoperable by dealers, (per instructions from on high) by filling the engine with liquid glass — literally destroying the engine. From there, the car was parted out for up to six months and then had to be destroyed completely. The government had to be notified when each car was dead. I mean, looking back on this massive waste now it seems so ridiculous that there was ever such a program that hurt lower middle class and low income earners the most. Think of all the used cars that were removed from the market.

If you needed a car with high miles and a little rust to get to your $9.00 an hour job seven miles away, finding a cheap one after this stupid program became a lot more difficult. Clunkers still on the market were few and far in between. Thanks to Cash for Clunkers, they were also more expensive and not better in any way.

1. Cash for Clunkers: Yes this was a pretty dumb program. Significant problems with your source’s comments however: the program wasn’t very successful, it was an 8 week program that happened 7 years ago, a quick google search shows estimates of about 500,000 cars were purchased using the program—a rather irrelevant number given the size of the US passenger vehicle market.

2. Made getting to our jobs harder: This is just stupid, like the one above. First off, the President doesn’t control gas prices. Second…your author’s timing is wrong. Gas prices began to collapse in 2014. Third, the collapse of prices in 2008 was due to the Great Recession.

3. He told us we didn’t build that: Ok.. he said that…in the words of you great Trump supporters…"so what he won" in 2012. Must not have been THAT big of a slap in the face to small business owners.

4. Claimed wind and solar power was the wave of the future: more people now work in solar than in coal. It does make “absolute sense” that harnessing solar energy can or will be less expensive than coal. Solyndra and birds have not a damn thing to do with the efficiency of wind or solar…this is the typical slight of hand used for the stupid.

5. Poisoned an entire river in Colorado: Yup that happened…who outside of the folks who live on or near that river care?

6. Made building anything or increasing our comfort more expensive: So why is new home construction doing so well? Why are new home building so positive?

7. Did not make a stand for Christians: Um…religious fervor is not a mark of the Democratic Party. The title of the column is “How President Obama Destroyed the Democratic Party”…what does this issue have to do with the premise of the article? Those who vote along religious lines are generally Republicans.

8. Shut down coal production: yes…yes…yes….and the significantly lower price of natural gas (coal’s main competition) had NOTHING to do with this…right?

9. Tried to demoralize our military: Benghazi is used as the example? Benghazi was a diplomatic compound…not a military one. Additionally, if one wants to believe this point is true---what does it have to do with the Democratic Party? Fervent military types are generally viewed as Republicans.

10. Kept on golfing: 300 rounds of golf in 8 years? That is 37.5 outings in a year. There are 52 weekends in a year. Why would someone’s job be threatened for playing golf on a pace that equates to playing once every two out of three weekends. If you are an avid pro football watcher you spend what 23 or so weekends glued to your tv. How many people lose their jobs for watching football?

11. Obamacare: I’ll give the author this one…however, this—once again—is more of a REPUBPICAN issue than a Democratic one.

In closing, this is a predictably stupid article. Given that the Democratic candidate handily won the popular vote and that the majority of votes cast for Mr. Trump were Anti Clinton as opposed to Pro Trump, the author’s premise is factually untrue.

4. Are you kidding me? If people were peddling bicycles to make electricity, how does the number of people employed have anything to do with the energy source's ability to produce enough energy to meet demand? Or does the only thing that matters is how many people are paid? Solar and wind cannot currently come close to competing with the energy density of coal.

5. Yeah. By the way, Flint was just one town. No biggy.
Love the reasoning. Why not just dispute the ones you have a valid argument than stupid lame ones to dispute every one?
