This suggests to me that these folks aren't seeking to give up US citizenship, but rather just establish residency of some sort in Canada. Maybe just to throw a hissy fit. The problem is that doesn't get one out of paying US taxes. Therefore you're still funding the bull#### you're ostensibly running from.

In other words: an ego stroke with no effect on anything.
