Make him Justice Gorsuch

In political terms, their cynical power play against Merrick Garland paid off. That should infuriate all Americans who care about the nation’s ability to rise above narrow partisan animus .

But the grave offense does not justify Democrats putting payback before the national interest. It does not justify blocking the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to fill a seat on the nine-member court that has already sat vacant for over a year.

Gorsuch, President Trump’s nominee to the high court, withstood a murder board of questions last week to prove himself to be an extraordinarily qualified, whip-smart jurist with exemplary judicial temperament.

Were this Editorial Board a judge sitting on the Supreme Court, we would surely rule differently from Gorsuch on many cases. That ought not be the standard for Senate consent.

In exchange after exchange with members of the Judiciary Committee, Gorsuch revealed himself to be not the caricature conjured up by Democrats, but a rigorous judicial practitioner with respect for the legislative process and for precedent.

It's kind of funny listening to the D's complaints, "he's going to follow the letter of the law, and not follow his heart".

The D's only complaint is that their man Garland didn't get confirmed.
So like the spoiled little kids they are, they are taking their ball and going home mad.

What's really amusing is the reason they gave that Garland HAD to be confirmed. The SC can't function with just eight members, every decision will be a tie and nothing will be decided. It'll be chaos. Now that he's lost in the wastebasket of time they just don't seem to care about the "chaos".

No...Mr. Garland should have been given a vote....BIG difference.

But the grave offense does not justify Democrats putting payback before the national interest.

And this is the typical stupidity from a GURPS propaganda post. According to him and most on here, it is quite alright (if not EXPECTED) for Republicans to put party ahead of country. It is quite alright for Rs to do any damn dirty or low down thing they please...and the rest of the planet should just shut up about it and take it.

BECAUSE of the actions of Republicans, Mr. Gorsuch is (and probably should) have a very difficult time getting confirmed. Rs made their bed.

So, it is your opinion that the court really doesn't need nine (or at least an odd number) as was shouted and demanded for the last year? Seems you agree with the R's, then.

Or, are you saying that it was wrong for the R's to deny the ninth seat, and therefore you think the Dems are wrong now?

I'm trying to find the consistency in your argument, and I just can't seem to locate it. If you could help me out, please.

Explain why you think he should have been given a vote. Just "because" isn't really good enough.
As for him having a hard time getting confirmed. I don't see it. Dirty Harry has pretty much mapped this route out for the R's.
