Community Mediators needed in Calvert & St. Mary's
Do you want to help people find a better way to resolve their conflicts? Have you ever considered becoming a mediator?
Applications are now being accepted from individuals interested in participating in a 40 hour training course held by Community Mediation of St. Mary's County and the Community Mediation Center of Calvert. Session dates are April 28, 29, 30 and May 5, 6, 7, 2017.
Community mediators are skilled volunteers who offer their time to support fellow community members while they have a difficult conversation or try to resolve a dispute. Mediators help participants identify issues, express their ideas, listen to the other person/s and generate their own resolution. Mediators are non-judgmental, do not take sides or tell participants what to do.
Mediators can help separating individuals work through co-parenting concerns, individuals being released from jail talk with family and friends to establish a smooth transition back into society, and neighbors, family members and co-workers discuss difficult issues and problems.
