It’s Time For The Left To Stop Imposing Its Morality On Everyone
Yes, of course giving is good. But responsible adults don’t run their lives, households, or businesses on that premise alone. Nor should our government.

I was born in 1977, and for most of my life if I listened closely enough, somewhere I could hear some leftist shouting “Stop imposing your morality on me!” Today I’ll be writing about why I agree.

This is an article for the right-minded electorate. Before we get started, try to internalize this and keep it in mind as you read on. We’ve all heard Sun Tzu’s correct assertion that to mitigate opposition, you must understand that opposition. Echoing that, keep in mind that we on the Right have an enormous yet entirely untapped advantage over the leftists who oppose us.

If we both want liberty and opportunity for all, and we understand the Left’s good intentions but the Left sees only evil and greed in ours, whose good intentions are likely more intellectually evolved? It’s more than an interesting observation. It’s an advantage we can use if we get our arms around it. To win the “morality” conversation, we’re gonna have to.

Reminds me of this piece I saw yesterday -

In 1964, Berkeley student Mario Savio made a speech about the vital importance of free and open discussion at the college.
He urged the university to encourage students to debate all ideas, both mainstream and radical.
Savio’s struggle was eventually successful, but only after he and his supporters endured suspension, arrest, fines and jail time.
Now Berkeley seems to have decided it should be the home of killing off free speech, not promoting it.
I’m appalled but not surprised by this.
The truth about many modern liberals is that they don’t believe in free speech at all.
They only believe in it if people agree with them.
They don’t see their opinions as opinions, they see them as ‘truth’.

Berkeley used to be the very home of the Free Speech Movement. Now it's the opposite. If they don’t like what they’re hearing, they scream and shout, punch and kick, petrol bomb and stab. Violence broke out just last weekend. Here protesters throw a traffic cone at Trump supporters

If they don’t like what they’re hearing, they scream and shout, punch and kick, petrol bomb and stab, and furiously demand the offender be silenced and banned.
This dramatic shift in liberal behavior from peaceful protest to violent hateful censorship is a vile, virulent virus that first infected vast swathes of America intelligentsia and has now spread across to my own country, Britain.
I’ve recently had first hand experience of it on both sides of the Atlantic.
Appearing as a guest on Bill Maher’s Real Time show in February, I was told to ‘F**K OFF!’ live on air by Australian comedian Jim Jefferies, because I dared to suggest Trump’s not the new Hitler and didn’t consider his proposed travel ban to be a ‘Muslim ban’ because 85% of the world’s Muslims were not targeted by it.
This led to the likes of Harry Potter author JK Rowling leading global frenzied jubilation at me being ‘silenced’ for my supposedly disgusting opinions.
Only my opinions weren’t disgusting but factual, and I wasn’t silenced at all. I was just told to ‘F**K OFF!’ by an ignorant, obnoxious comic because I didn’t agree with his opinions.
That’s not an argument, it’s what a drunk does in the pub when he’s told it’s closing time.

So lets' have some fun with this shall we? We'll just dispense with the hypocrisy of the title as it relates to the text...and just deal with direct passages:

I am a lifelong and practicing Christian, but I think we should reject and oppose using the government to impose morality or legislate charity
Ok...so then he should be for abortion and against tax deductions for charitable contributions. He should also be against all religious based government holidays and all religious organizations should pay taxes like every other corporate entity.

A nation like the United States, which has codified that free will so long as citizens don’t infringe on others’ rights, likely enables the most fertile ground for each of us as individuals to live out Jesus’ teachings.
So...in the author's mind the sole purpose for a nation to "codify free will" is so that all members of a society can live out Jesus' teachings? Huh...you see I understood the purpose of "codifying free will" in the US as it relates to religion was to allow citizens to practice the religion of their choice.

I’d ask them to please leave Jesus out of it as he’s strongly rumored to prefer free will.
Huh...Jesus preferred free will? And what may I ask happens to one who doesn't believe in Jesus? Oh...we are taught we would burn in hell. I am beginning to think the author doesn't understand the concept of free will anymore than some freak left winger.

As the Left increasingly use religion and morality to attack us, we should be ready to respond.
And how exactly would you do that? Why, by using religion and morality to attack the left of course!!! This completes the never ending cycle of hypocrisy and stupidity.

The Left is taught to demonize. They are no more about exchange of ideas than your basic house pet. They are taught that their Party is everything good, and any opposition or alternate view is the epitome of evil and must be eradicated (Sieg Heil, ya'll).

They are not going to stop imposing their "morality" on everyone because it's not morality at all and many of them cannot even coherently explain their viewpoints. They are fully indoctrinated into the Cult of Democrat Party, no different than Hitler Youth. They claim to be college educated, but clearly they learned nothing about the Nazi Party because even the weakest mind has to be able to see the parallels between today's "progressives" and the "progressives" of Hitler's Germany.

Let me ask this. Why did Berkely change? What brought about this change? Was it the children of liberals who wen there and changed it? Or was it liberal elitist college professors, who brought their agenda with them, and harassed and failed any young adult who opposed them . told them they were wrong and to listen to their educated experiences with socialism, and how their lives should be run.

It's a bit like Tommy Jo who tries to tell us all how smart she is and how stupid we are.
She has her views and woe to anyone who disagrees. Disagree and you are a moron.
Is this what is happening in colleges.?
I believe it is. I believe our kids are being brainwashed by Socialist, Communist, Liberal Professors who infect these supposed schools of learning with
methods and agenda's right out of Marx's handbook.

all religious based government holidays.

We "have' ***ONE**** - Christmas - and I submit to you the simple fact that it is also a secular holiday.

What does deck the halls and Santa and elves and presents and trees and wreaths and eggnog and green and red - oh geez I could go on endlessly - to do with the birth of Christ?
Do you honestly believe all those people out there shopping and buying Christmas stuff and getting loaded at the office Christmas party - do you think they're all being religious?

Give you a hint - it's *Easter* that is the focus of the Christian religion. The resurrection of Christ is the most important element of Christianity, enough for Paul to say that if Christ is not raised, then our faith is futile.
People have some traditions surrounding Easter, but not like Christmas. The decision on when to celebrate Easter actually SPLIT the early church - it was that important.

Christmas is as much a secular holiday as it is a religious one, just like St Patrick's Day - which has nothing to do with green beer and corned beef and cabbage and shepherd's pie and possibly shamrocks.

The thing is, this was written by Piers Morgan, not exactly a conservative by any measure - and his most telling point is where he mentions that they see their opinion as opinion but as "truth" and if it is not agreed upon - well they feel ok about being violent about it - in contrast to those who protested FOR it, who were willing to undergo violence to gain freedom.

This article is of course about Ann Coulter - I found it interesting that while he argued with her openly - he also mentioned he closed a Manhattan bar with her at 3am because you can disagree with someone, but still maintain they are a lot of fun to hang out with. Berkeley decided that since they knew lefties would get violent - they were ill-prepared to provide security. I find that hugely ironic - the left, who pushed so hard for free speech are a complete guarantee for violence when someone they disagree with will speak.

all religious organizations should pay taxes like every other corporate entity.

The problem with this is, if churches and the like are treated like corporate entities, it grants the government the power to regulate and audit religion.
They would possess the ability to pick and choose which religions they could favor and which they could injure.
They could make things hard on churches that teach and believe things the government doesn't concur with.

The wall of separation as it exists - protects this.

And to be fair - if you tax churches - you should tax ALL non-profits - and I think the left would be very much against THAT.

I'd like to take a second and say  Excellent question!!!

(who hacked your account?)

The answer is POWER. When the left was all for freedom of speech and free inquiry and open debate, they had no, or less, power. That rattled, as intended, the establishment which was very conservative socially. Keep in mind that Sal Alinskey was going, mainly, after big cities and the D machines that ran them because that's where the oppression was. Over time, that changed and there was something resembling equality in the 80's and 90's. Over more time that has changed and the left has become and remained THE establishment in much of the US and especially colleges and universities. Now, still, always, freedom of speech and free inquiry and open debate is a threat to the establishment, an establishment that is leftist.

He who has no power agitates to get it. He who has power works to keep it. It's how biology works thus it's how WE work.

Good question. :buddies:

I've got a book around here that catalogs that succinctly ....
the more Berkley Admin gave in back in 65 or 66 the more student groups demanded more POWER and Change
eventually these 'students' came back around and became the Professors and Administrators
