    Carrier woes

I guess I'm not surprised that a first in class of vessel with all kinds of new tech, is having cost overruns.

What really surprises me is the statement from the GAO indicating that "lessons learned" from the Ford construction, are not being implemented on the Kennedy. I guess it is possible that the Kennedy is close enough behind the Ford that incorporating those "lessons learned" is/was not possible. The Kennedy will just get the same patches as the Ford does.

Anyone remember the urban legend about the hidden machine shop (no doorway) on the Enterprise?

Now we'll probably have a new warship named USS Stephen Scalise.

It was on the Coral Sea! No wait, it was the Saratoga, or maybe the Connie, could have been the Kennedy....

As for our current woes, that is what happens when we go forward betting that the technology will be there when we need it. It usually works out but in this case not so good.
