The eleventh season of Downtown Tunes continues in a big way with local favorites the GrooveSpan Trio LIVE in Leonardtown Square on Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 6 to 9 PM.

The GrooveSpan Trio is excited to return to Leonardtown's popular Downtown Tunes Summer Concert Series! GrooveSpan is known for spanning the grooves of time, and on July 22nd, the Trio will focus on Jazz, Blues, and light Pop.

The Trio will offer a unique musical treat for this event, welcoming special guest saxophonist - Bob Beeson. Bob is an Army veteran of 29 years and served with the United States Army Band "Pershing's Own" at Fort Myer, VA. He has performed throughout the United States and Europe in a variety of venues to include the Kennedy Center, The Meyerson Symphony Center, The Grand Ole Opry, Avery Fisher Hall, and Carnegie Hall. Beeson teaches sax and directs the jazz ensemble at The Catholic University of America and is Music Director, First Lutheran Church Huntingtown, MD.

GrooveSpan lead vocalist and manager, Jennifer Cooper, began her formal training and professional career in musical theater and opera, singing principle roles in Europe, Canada, and the United States. She eventually added jazz, blues, folk, pop and classic rock to her performance palate, forming GrooveSpan, a five-piece ensemble of professional musicians, bringing quality music entertainment to private and public events in the MD/DC/VA region. Jennifer is a private voice instructor with a full roster at the Cooper Voice Studio, and a voice faculty member at St. Mary's College of Maryland. She has served in various positions for the Southern Maryland Youth Orchestra & Choir, exercising her advocacy for youth music education and programming.

Guitarist Carl Reichelt, also a founding member of GrooveSpan, excels in genres ranging from rock to jazz, blues to art song, on both electric and acoustic guitar, all stemming from an autodidactic music education. A prolific composer and songwriter, Reichelt creates intricate guitar arrangements and accompaniments to accommodate and enhance collaborations with other musical artists. He is best known for his work with local iconic groups such as Square Noon, Romi, Upstroke, and Round Midnite.
