Does anyone remember how many times the GOP put a bill on Obama's desk to repeal Obamacare, only to have it predictably vetoed? Now that the GOP can't agree on anything in a replacement, they are resorting to just a repeal. Now, they can't even agree on that. After passing repeals dozens of times over the last 8 years, they can't agree to a repeal now. I will try to find votes of these past repeal bills to confirm, but my bet is, these holdouts on the current repeal effort (Susan Collins, Shelley Moore Capito, Lisa Murkowski, Rand Paul, and others) were all in on past repeals.

If these reps thing we're not paying attention they're wrong. The country handed them a majority to repeal Obamacare. If a replacement comes with that, I don't care. Repeal that evil law called "The Affordable Care Act" (damn lie of a title). What the hell is wrong with these republicans that they consistently squander away their power the people hand them?

I left the GOP for this exact reason. But I still voted accordingly, as did millions of other Americans, to put the GOP into power in the hopes they turn us around. What do we get????????????????? More kicking the damn can down the road. I wish I had the opportunity to sit in front of these SERVANTS OF THE PEOPLE and tell them, in a very disrespectful manner, that they are worse than the democrats. At least the democrats tell us they are going to screw the American people. The GOP runs a stealth agenda in which they promise to move us into a more conservative direction, only to find that they want the same stinking things as the democrats.

At this point, I'm never voting GOP again. They've had 8 years to devise a 'repeal/replace' bill, and they have come up with nothing. This leads me to believe they will not come up with anything, they have no intention of coming up with anything, and this results in a big fat lie to the American people. I am completely fed up with being lied to by these pompous, elitist, self-serving politicians.

If I'm not mistaken they only ever got one bill to repeal through to Obama. He vetoed that one bill. The handwriting has been on the wall. I'm glad you are seeing it.
Don't miss the part about trump claiming to be the one guy who could fix it, but then he didn't even try to help negotiate it. In fact trumps tweet and the senate bill being mean is probably what torpedoed it.

I will always remind folks that my vote for Trump wasn't so much for Trump, but for what he represents; a stray from the establishment. I know Trump, himself, is much like the establishment, but what the people viewed his election as was to tell our government to expect more of this; expect more elections of people that are not on the inside, or born-and-bred politicians.

That being said... I really want this thread to be about our congress and how inept that are in getting anything meaningful done. Trump plays a big role in leading these causes, but in the end, these same old insiders playing the same old games can't be led by anyone. They've been playing these games long before Trump go elected, and I don't see much cooperation from any of them to be receptive to Trump's leadership. Now, Trump will be calling some key people into the White House to, again, discuss a way forward on this healthcare thing. I suspect people like Collins, McConnell, Paul, and others will leave laughing at anything Trump might suggest.

Step One:

repeal_the_17th_amendment_postcard-r2c4f637a526442e1a365bbfab3feeca3_vgbaq_8byvr_512.jpg

Step Two:
Pay attention to the state legislature, legislators, legislation.

Step Three:
Have a team of 11 people randomly selected from the state's voter registration (4 D, 4R, 3I) to draw the state's districts each time that comes up. Have the state supreme court be the final arbiter of the drawing each time, one who oversees their process.

Step Four:
Term limits - two terms for Senators, four terms for Representatives.

Still doesn't mean anyone wants democrats, socialists or marxists to replace them.

So don't get yourself too excited.

I've heard this over and over. This congress and president were elected to repeal and replace. I don't know if letting Obamacare implode will result in a repeal or not.

The thing about Obamacare is that it sucks. The Democrats know it,but they also know that it keep the entitled voting Democrat.
The republicans know it but they also fear a backlash from the entitled.
They didn't mind voting to repeal it when Obama was President, because the voters backed them on it, and they knew Obama would veto it.
Now that Obama is gone their balls shriveled because they know Trump will sign it and then they face the backlash.

Both sides know how bad it is and should be working to solve it, but they are too busy battling Trump.

your a good little trumper

I don't know why I allow myself to get sucked into these silly back-and-forths with you but, why do you like to play this role of being stupid. You're not, but you sure like to play it.

Trump has had meetings with congress over healthcare (and a host of other issues).

Jun 27 - Trump tells GOP senators: 'We're getting very close' on passing health-care plan

Mar 22 - Trump holds health care meeting ahead of ‘big’ House vote on Obamacare

Mar 17 - Trump says he's '100% behind' Republican health care bill

We'll agree these meeting were fruitless, but to say he hasn't tried to work with congress is just false.

maybe the meetings were fruitless because there was no negotiation from the great deal maker.

from your most recent article said:
After the White House meeting, McConnell told reporters, "either Republicans will agree and change the status quo, or the markets will continue to collapse and we'll have to sit down with Senator Schumer." The Senate majority leader said he suspects the Republicans would not be able to get the reforms they want if they have to negotiate with the Democrats.

Trump tweeted Tuesday evening that the Republicans are working hard without support from the other side of the aisle.

Like I asked, where is the negotiation? What did he even offer to the holdouts? You do realize that his "mean" tweet is what gave the holdouts the excuse they needed?
BTW, that was weeks ago and the situation has gotten worse.
