NFLer retires at 26 to get his PhD at MIT

Concussions played a part in his decision. Good to see a pro uses his brain in addition to his muscles.

Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman John Urschel, the NFL's mathematics expert, abruptly announced his retirement from football at the age of 26

Urschel is pursuing his doctorate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the offseason, focusing on spectral graph theory, numerical linear algebra and machine learning.

Good for him. I imagine he used his earnings wisely, and should be OK financially, not withstandings his future steady earnings as a smart guy.

He drives a 2013 Nissan Versa and never spent his earnings frivolously.

Nice. Neither of those trucks parked alongside him would qualify as an extreme expense, either. Just good, solid vehicles, affordable to a lot of us that do not make NFL salaries.

He'll be laughing all the way to health and prosperity while those other guys will be forever trying to figure out what he's laughing about.
