Can anyone tell me the name of the plant in the attached photo?

I am renaturalizing an area and these popped up in abundance. I do not recall seeing them anywhere else on my property.

They grew heart-shaped stringbean-like things a few weeks later.

My first guess is milkweed but the variety I know doesn't have stringbean-like things.

I would guess he's talking about the seed pods.

As suggested it may be milkweed. I believe it is native- please do not remove or cut it down. It is important to butterflies. If you have an abundance of it, I would love to have some or even some of the seed pods for my property; which I have started planting a lot more native plants on. And many plants that are attractive to honey bees and butterflies.

were your string bean pods looking like this??? This is a typical milkweed pod, PHAT string beans for sure then.....

if you say no, its probably not milkweed...

do i get a cookie?
