Friday night's storm

I am surprised there isn't a thread about it. It was bad. Our house got hit by lightning and knocked out the phone and A/C. Four houses in a row on our Court were hit. It must have started at the far end from our house and worked it's way around because we got the least damage. First house got it the worst and even had outlets blown out of the walls! Next house had his outdoor lights hit. Next house, their TV. Minus the phone, we don't have any lasting damage. We heard a POP and then a huge explosion. We had smoke in the utility room where our HVAC unit is.

Saturday we went to Stowe, roughly 20 miles away, and it was a beautiful sunny day with lovely puffy clouds. When we got back to our hotel, they had had a serious storm and flooding - stuff was all messed up and our patio had several inches of standing water.

Weather. Go figure.

Sounds like CRE was hit the hardest. Lots of posts on FB about damage to houses/electrical/etc. When it hit our house, it sounded like a bomb went off in our yard.

It was pretty bad in Solomons but didn't last long. The wind was fierce before the actual storm hit and I imagine that was a lot of the other damage. Sorry your house got hit but thank goodness it didn't catch on fire!

When we lived on the airport in CRE, our hangar got hit by lightening and it blew all the electronics out. And since then, our dog, Dexter, has been a basket case during thunderstorms. Like jazzlady said- you are lucky there wasn't a fire.

Got a bunch of rain here in Pembrooke, some nearby thunder, but when looking out the back, the heaviest activity definitely looked like it was across the Patuxent.

Friday night and last night were interesting, was under the northern edge of the storm system, thunder, lightning, wind, heavy rain..and there we were using the YWCA camp near York Haven for our gathering.
