Slow Death Of the Republican Party!

The Grand Old Party is about to commit suicide.

All this talk about Trump this, and Trump that, masks a far bigger political controversy. The Republican Party leadership in Washington, D.C., has fundamentally betrayed its constituents and they are about to learn that they’ve been double-crossed — for years.

Every Republican candidate’s stock speech sounds the same, the thunderous roar about a government out of control, federal spending out of control (insert charts and graphs and why, if you stack hundred dollar bills, they will reach the edge of the universe), federal taxes out of control (insert comparisons to socialist countries), the federal bureaucracy out of control (insert metaphors about chains, yokes, and the like), the family shattered with federal funding of abortion a crime against humanity (watch for it — there! The heart-wrenching sob), and our military is emasculated.

Two more items were added to the menu, courtesy of Obama. Obamacare Will Be Repealed! and Illegal Immigration Will Not Stand!

I've heard this repeated so many times, I've lost count.
Ditto for the Democrats. They're both cockroaches - even after you step on them, you can't be sure if they're really dead.

One thing I will say for the GOP, for better or worse - they permit and even tolerate dissension in the ranks.
If you were in Congress or the Democratic Party and broke with them in the past, you'd pretty much get cut off.
Ditto if you were a convenient prop they used in the news cycle, like Cindy Sheehan. Oppose them and you're out.

I'm not completely disagreeing with you, however the lack of any intestinal fortitude on their part should carry a heavy price this time.

I'd like to see the Libertarian and Constitution Parties seize an opportunity in the next election cycle. This latest strain of GOP are gutless.

Well, it won't. Republicans are going to vote Republican, no matter what. I think John McCain's reign pretty much proves that. People like to belong to a team, no matter how much that teams sucks, and they like to see their team win, even when it's not in their best interest. Granted, Dems have the lock on party loyalty because they have the media in their pocket hammering home the message, but Republicans are just as brainwashed.

What choice do Republicans really have. They either vote for the sh1theads that are Republicans or vote for the other side which is worse.
Like Wishbone I would gladly vote for another party if I thought they had a chance of winning.
I agree with him republicans leaders are cowards.

Shake a racist sign at them and they run and hide.
They shook it at Trump and he won. They haven't stopped shaking it yet.

You all could start by nominating good Republicans instead of the pukes you come up with. Trump is a good start, but that was on a national level. State GOP needs to step up.

We had two good choices against Steny Hoyer. Charles Lollar a black ex-Marine who beat Hoyer at debating and should have drawn some of Hoyer's PG County votes.
Then we had the guy who was the House Minority leader I forget his name. He was definitely qualified.
Hard to beat those Democrats, for U.S. seats they have been spreading the pork around for a long time.

I was thinking the states in general, not just Maryland, but you're right - Charles Lollar was an excellent choice and I was really excited to vote for him. Alas, 5D is stuck on stupid so they kept Steny..

The Republican party reminds me of the actor David Carradine.
They are hanging themselves while jerking off.

There is zero alternative. I've yet to come across a democrat that I can stomach voting for. While it is fine and good to declare yourself independent, it does nothing to change things. Sure you can proudly beat your chest and disavow both jacked up parties, but what does it do? I'll stick with my party and do what I can with my one vote in the primaries. :yay:

I see it like sports fans and ESPN/NFL:

Both of those entities have gone so far off the mark and I have yet to hear one single sports fan say it's for the better. Most of them are disgusted at the political turn pro sports has taken and how it's all been candyassed down. But they go along without protest because watching sports is more important to them than having integrity. They have the relationship exactly backwards - sports programs rely on them, the consumer, not the other way around.

Not me, though. The GOP had been giving me the finger for decades until I finally gave it back and walked. They need us; we don't need them. For some reason We the People have decided to pledge our loyalty to political parties that don't give a rat's ass about us, and that completely baffles me.
