Fire and Fury was in response to NORK threatening a US possession (Guam), under that scenario an attack upon Guam, or the firing of ballistic missiles toward Guam, could have resulted in an immediate executive response IAW the War Powers Resolution. Firing a missile over the independent country of Japan could not initiate an immediate executive response, for any response the Congress would have to declare war or grant specific statutory authority for the executive to use military force.

Easy enough for him to go to congress and ask for that authority.

I think it's up to Japan to deal with it, don't you? NK didn't fire the missile at us, after all.

We have plenty of strategic bases and military assets in Japan. Could be at us as well as anything.

If Japan decides to do something I am pretty sure we will be in it with them.

Japan is not really "independent" from the military point of view. When we set their government up post WWII, we said that they could only have a defensive military.

That's why we're able to be there.

I don't believe fire and fury is a reasonable response to the joke they fired.

In the very video that you posted, President Trump eludes to "threats to the United States". Well just FYI, Japan IS NOT the United States !
You obviously lack in comprehension skills or maybe just another non-trumper (oops, same thing).

So you think that if NK threatens *any* country, we are obligated to nuke them? Since when is the whole world our problem? Especially since Trump has said specifically the opposite? Or are you being geographically challenged and don't realize Japan is a sovereign nation and not our territory?

But wouldn't it be something if the little fat kid was the catalyst for WWIII?
