Restaurant Closes After Owners Receive Death Threats For Pro-Anthem Facebook Post


The mostly negative response directed at Cut It Up, located just off the University of Arizona’s campus, was swift.

“Within minutes, the post was met with a barrage of comments, most of them negative, including calls to boycott the restaurant,” the Arizona Daily Star reported.

The owners took the post down three hours later, and by Saturday had shut down the Facebook page altogether.

Smith told the Daily Star the restaurant had received harassing phone calls and threats to burn the building down with the owners in it.

“We assumed there would be some discussion and shares, but never this type of animosity and hostility,” the statement read.
