For The First Time In A Very Long Time, An American President Stared Down China & China Blinked

It was glorious. The Establishment Media will never report that fact. It will never participate in the truth of how strong and proud is Mr. Trump’s representation of this nation as he stands literally and figuratively towering over other world leaders.

Many thought Xi would get the better of Trump at the APEC summit. That didn’t happen as reported here by the Washington Examiner:

…Trump continued, “When the United States enters into a trading relationship with other countries or other peoples, we will, from now on, expect that our partners will faithfully follow the rules just like we do. We expect that markets will be open to an equal degree on both sides, and that private industry, not government planners, will direct investment.”

It was a message that struck implicit contrast with China. Trump wants nations to know that he seeks expanded trade, but with safeguards to prevent the dumping, intellectual property theft and market access restrictions that current affect too many arrangements. For all of Xi’s pleasant words, the audience knew that China is the number one offender in everything Trump mentioned. They also know that the U.S. imports far more from the region that it exports, so they have a vested interest in continuing to keep America on the side. These are America’s trump cards.

To conclude, Trump cleverly returned the historical argument. He noted that America’s priority was protection for “individual rights, and freedom of navigation and overflight, including open shipping lanes. Three principles and these principles create stability and build trust, security, and prosperity among like-minded nations.”

We’re tempted to suggest a conspiracy here — but it’s just liberals agreeing yet again that conservatives have hidden, evil motives, because modern liberals simply can’t conceive of any other reason to disagree with the liberal consensus.

"We will no longer tolerate the audacious theft of intellectual property,” President Trump said Friday at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Vietnam. “We will confront the destructive practices of forcing businesses to surrender their technology to the state and forcing them into joint ventures in exchange for market access.” He was referring to big challenges that American businesses face in China.

Finally, he added a more universal problem, also present in China: “We will address the massive subsidizing of industries through colossal state-owned enterprises that put private competitors out of business."

On that last issue, the subsidizing of industry to put competitors out of business, Trump’s words resonate in our own corner of the world. For China’s state-owned enterprises might be more elaborate than Canada’s dairy cartel, but they operate on a similar protectionist principle. Both must be rooted out through free trade agreements, for everyone's good.

As the three North American partners renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement, Canada’s quasi-Soviet dairy policy is just one of the many thorny issues making agreement more complicated.

The progs have been programmed to chant that foreign leaders hate him and look down their nose at him. Of course, that doesn't jibe with what we actually saw on the news, but that's the narrative.

Yup...China blinked alright. It is what polite people do to hold back the tears of joy. It is also what actual leaders do to hold back tears of joy after playing your opponent like a fiddle. The speech Trump gave was not TO the Chinese. Trump is a blowhard and a hard ass whenever he is not around the people he is speaking of. While he was actually with the Chinese, Trump was his usual wimpy self, going to any length to praise the Chinese.

Here is some info on Trump and Trade:

Trump is incompetent. He doesn't know what he is doing.

Where were these news reports? What did he accomplish? How did he make China blink? I doubt you can verbalize the answers to even two of those questions

You mean a classy president who took his office seriously and was admired and respected the world over? Who didn't insult women or disparage people for their looks? You mean a real man to actually look up to?
