Has anyone tried to get a new Doctor lately?

If you are sick an appointment a week or a month fom now is not a thing you want to hear.
My Regular Doctor appears to be closing down, He is booked solid for the enxt week or so.
I tried some Doctors my firends recommended and one that the hospital recommended. all are either not accepting new patients or are busy far in advance.

Is it any wonder that when you have good insurance and medicare, you are forced into the Emergency Room or to a Fast Track Office.
No wonder the insurance is so Got damned expensive.

There's always urgent care. I usually use them if it's not something requiring a specialist and I don't think I have ever had more than a 20 minute wait (and I almost always wait longer at my actual doctor's office).

We do have some ridiculous waits for specialists down here, but I think that's more a chicken and egg issue. Not enough specialists so many people just go up the road to DC/Baltimore/Etc., and not enough demand down here for new specialists because everyone going up the road.

After the missus' favorite doctor quit her practice a couple years ago, we quit even trying to find a "permanent" doctor for either of us. There just aren't any. We go to Urgent Care...

My doctor retired last year, and I was really stressed over finding a new one down here. Fortunately, another doctor picked up his practice, well established and respected in this area. That new doc's PA is who I now see, and she's terrific, young and going to be around a lot longer than I am.

I wonder what portion of the doctor “shortage” is directly caused by ObamaKare? Either through regulations/increased costs making it too expensive to stay in business in that model.

My GP moved to “consigere medicine” and I went with him. This is a model of delivering basic medicine free of insurance hassles. You basically pay a fixed price for a menu of services. I maintain catastrophic coverage by use of insurance.

I'm guessing you used Dr. Szkotnicki. I feel the same way about Dr. Perrault and his PA., I do miss having Dr. S asking if I'm pooping and peeing ok though.

My PA left medicine in March to teach. I am now seeing a new PA at the office. I was lucky to not have to go search for a replacement.

I just saw this on the news today. Doctors in this plan claim they can provide more time to patients that would otherwise be spent "clicking boxes on a computer" and all the paperwork/redtape associated with insurance. For that monthly fee you can see your doc as many times a month as you want, catastrophic and emergency generally not covered, therein the supplemental catastrophic insurance.

Actually, Dr. John Bennett, who passed his practice to Dr. Jeffery Brown. Dr. Brown's CRNP Leigh Freno is my primary provider. Don't know if Brown's group is taking new patients.

I called Dr. Perrault. No appointments in the near future the receptionist said.
