No wonder the insurance is so Got damned expensive.

Obamcare / Medicare - costs are up, payouts down
We’re tempted to suggest a conspiracy here — but it’s just liberals agreeing yet again that conservatives have hidden, evil motives, because modern liberals simply can’t conceive of any other reason to disagree with the liberal consensus.

Yes. I have said on here that hub retired earlier than expected. We are 3 years away from Medicare. So, we signed up for Obamacare; no other choice. The cheapest plan was Kaiser Permanente, and just to let y’all know, they suck. No pharmacies accept them, and, apparently, KP only operates out of Kensington in our area; which is not close to us. And, they assigned us docs without letting us choose. We are not happy, and looking into alternatives. Signed up for AARP just for fun, and to see what’s up...it was cheap. Found a prescrip site that is way below cost than we were used to. We only need scrips for cholesterol meds. Need to cut down on the bacon, and all. It is called Blink Health. New enrollment is coming up soon, so we shall see what alternatives we have as far as physicians. When we knew insurance through company was ending last summer, we got the works done from head to toe. Mammogram, bone scans, colonoscopies, arteries sonograms, paps, prostate exam, etc.; all the covered stuff. Clean bill of health for both of us, and don’t have to worry til next check up in July, unless something bad happens. Hope this info helps, y’all. Oh, and thank you, Obama. Have to say glad you are gone. Just sad you didn’t take Pelosi with you. It would have helped if y’all had read what you were legislating, and pushed through with not one Repub vote. Oh well, we will survive, despite your agenda.

My doc in MD retired shortly after I left. I loved her, and the prospect of finding a new doc, due to her retiring, or me relocating, was daunting. I've been through 4 pain management docs, and 2 primary. I'm done. I've been doing a lot of research, and I've managed to get off of all of my prescription meds. I've been ordering seeds to start a "medicine" garden. I've gone birkenstock-wearing-tree-hugging-herbalist. I'm off of pain meds, statims, and prilosec, that I have taken since it came out. My daily med routine currently is probiotics, prebiotics, honey, garlic, fish oil, magnesium. My diet is in process. Every day I read something else that I need to add to my diet, or take away. I haven't been able to give up the coffee yet, but that will come in time. Doctors don't treat our illnesses. They treat the symptoms. Most of us are sick because we took antibiotics, and out natural flora never balanced out. Big pharn is killing us, and most don't know, or don't care. Doctors are in the bag with big pharm for kick backs. I've decided to take control of my health, instead of letting it control me.

Do your research...the bacon is not what's causing your high cholesterol, sugar is the culprit. I'm so sure of this that I made a batch of lard this weekend. I threw out all cooking oils except CA olive oil (this is important), coconut oil, butter, and the lard I just made.

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer. -Frank Zappa

Thanks for the info. I have always used butter, olive oil (not, necessarily CA), coconut oil, but never lard. I will look into it. I like your countertop and backsplash! Your backsplash reminds me of my china; Mason’s Pink Vista in the pattern. I love the toile of it all. And, I have always enjoyed your posts.

That's the pantry. I hated the doors, so I took them off and hung curtains. I also have the matching plates above them, and I'm in the process of putting those curtains all the way around the keeping room. I'm not crazy about the countertop, but thank you.

As for my posts, I'm glad you enjoy them.

Olive oil from other countries does not have the same oversight as olive oil grown and processed in the states. So, you're not always getting 100% olive oil if it's bottled outside the states. CA is not the only state that bottles it, but it seems to be the primary source.
