Judges 5:“When you, Lord, went out from Seir,
when you marched from the land of Edom,
the earth shook, the heavens poured,
the clouds poured down water.
5 The mountains quaked before the Lord, the One of Sinai,
before the Lord, the God of Israel.

There have been several battles that were won because God did something Supernatural.... so I figure these verses are about the Miraculous Help that the Israelites enjoyed in their Theocracy.

This is from the blueletterbible.org site.

God won the victory for Israel over Sisera by sending a great rain. In this song Deborah recalled a time when God did the same thing on behalf of Israel in the days of the Exodus (Deuteronomy 33:2).

This is from GodVine.com.

Melted - Or, flowed, with floods of water powered out of the clouds upon them, and from them flowing down in a mighty stream upon the lower grounds, and carrying down part of the mountains with it. Sinai - She slides into the mention of a more ancient appearance of God for his people in Sinai; it being usual in scripture repetitions of former actions, to put divers together in a narrow compass. The sense is, No wonder that the mountains of the Amorites and Canaanites melted and trembled, when thou didst lead thy people toward them; for even Sinai itself could not bear thy presence, but melted in like manner before thee.

Out in Arizona, they have a monsoon season. During the monsoon.... really intense rain storms hit and, unlike the rain storms back east, the storms sit and spin for a long long time.... and these torrential storms cause flash floods in the mountains and foothills, and flood the washes in the lower valley. During the last monsoon season, a family of nine was completely washed away.... they found them all dead, down stream. It took a long time to find the father's body.... but he didn't have to endure life without his wife, children, and other family members.... because he was lifeless as well when they finally found him.

So this is what I figure those floods at Seir had to be like. A thunderstorm so severe and so savage that it doesn't get scooped up in what every jet stream is moving weather at the time.... would have the power to wipe out an army in no time at all. It only took a few seconds for a complete family of nine to be wiped out.... and they had absolutely no warning. The flood that ripped those nine family members away started way upstream.... there wasn't a cloud in the sky when that family was washed away in that flash flood. The area around Seir is mountainous.... a good thunderstorm could definitely result in a flash flood capable of taking out an army. I'm posting a map here that shows the mountainous terrain.
