I enjoy a nightwalk...especially with such a bright moon.
Looking almost due south, (from St Leonard) I spotted a nice flare heading straight down--very clear and expanding just a little bit. NO sound, No shockwave...was wondering if anyone got a dash cam shot of it.
The tail & flare lasted only about 1-2 seconds.
It would have been even more astounding if the moon was dimmed.

Someone in So Md or N Va might have a new interesting feature in their yard.

We seem to be getting quite a number of these lately. Friend of mine spotted one just a few weeks ago when he in the wife were hope for a drive. Makes me wonder what kind of debris field our solar system is passing through right now. It seems to go beyond the normal cyclic meteor showers we come to expect.

Grab your winter coat and mittens, pour some coffee, step outside and look up: The Geminid meteor shower — arguably the most robust shooting stars of 2017 — peaks the night of Dec. 13-14.

The International Meteor Organization (imo.net) predicts that the Geminids will put on a good show starting about 10 p.m. Dec. 13 and continuing through the night.
