Full Semi-Automatic

Gun experts are calling foul on a CNN report in which its gun specialist used the misleading term "full semi-automatic" when describing an AR-15.

The moment took place during a CNN report presented as "An Up-Close Look at the AR-15," which involves retired Lieutenant General Mark Hertling, someone who does not believe the AR-15 should be banned. However, at one point in his demonstration of how the gun operates, Lt. Hertling says he is going to use the gun in "full semi-automatic" mode. CNN follows his statement by stating that the AR-15 is "a weapon designed to inflict maximum damage."

As highlighted by Twitchy, pro-Second Amendment advocates, including NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch, responded to the segment by noting that there's no such thing as "full semi-automatic." Hertling apparently just meant "pulling the trigger as fast as you can."

I saw that last night. It sounded like a simple flub. he did not sound like he was trying to imply fully automatic. Still they should have edited that out.

but they didn't

serious question, how does it matter? antis wont care either way and neither will pros. Besides, he demonstrated that mode immediately after he said it and said/showed it was one pull of the trigger for each round.

When I was a kid in the 60s, we'd take turns shooting my Remington 66 trying to see how fast we could unload all 14 rounds. Didn't know that had a name until now..LOL

It's all done by design.

Already, most people not familiar with firearms don't understand the difference between semi-auto and automatic. The 'opinion leaders' are trying to expand the confusion as it suits their plan.

As highlighted by Twitchy, with more and more people weighing in on the nonexistence of "full semi-automatic" mode, Hertling responded online to say what many had assumed: He simply misspoke and was not deliberately inventing a new term. In his response, he underscores that CNN had chosen the clip out of his "90-minute discussion" with them.

"The clip about AR 15s with @GaryTuchmanCNN shown on @AC360 tonight. This was a 90 minute discussion and firing put into a succinct 3-minute story by the pros at @CNN," wrote Hertling. "For all those critiquing my phrase 'full semi automatic,' you are correct. I was attempting to inform the crew that I was going from 'single shot' to continuous trigger and rapid trigger pull using the semiautomatic capability. My apologies...but perhaps you’re missing the point."

In other words, the real blame for floating the term "full semi-automatic" should fall on CNN, who chose to keep that particular phrase among the 3 minutes of footage pared down from a 90-minute interview with Hertling.

So all of YOUR outrage was baseless as I said originally.

I love when you debunk your own stupid threads

"High capacity". What the heck does that really mean? "Assault rifle". Add that word "assault" to rifle and it suddenly become more scary. "Military-style weapon". Now that's really scary that we - the people - are armed with military-style firearms. Now, I just became a really scary person now that someone knows I'm armed like someone in the military.

NOW, I own a fully-semi-automatic, military-style, high-capacity, assault rifle. I'm scary and dangerous, even though I'm still the same guy you knew before you knew I owned this very scary gun. Anyone who honestly knows CNN knows they have an anti-gun agenda. They will put a "firearms expert" on that they know will say what they need to make guns more scary than before. And who better than a "firearms expert"?

" And who better than a "firearms expert"?

I'll never forget when Fox trotted out Greg Jarret as some kind of "firearms expert" whereupon he went on to explain the wondrous workings of the magical "bullet button". ;-)
