A Manhattan judge ruled Wednesday that kicking a Trump supporter out of a bar does not violate the law — because the law does not protect against political discrimination.

Greg Piatek of Philadelphia claims he was refused service and eventually removed from a New York City bar in January 2017 for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, in a lawsuit against the establishment.

“Anyone who supports Trump – or believes in what you believe – is not welcome here! And you need to leave right now because we won’t serve you!” Piatek claims the staff of The Happiest Hour told him.

Judge rules New York City bar can refuse service to Trump supporter wearing MAGA hat

but wouldn't that be covered under 'freedom of speech' [expression] - not the stupid religious argument made
women can run around with there tits out and this is covered under Freedom of Expression, but a guy wearing a MANGA Hat gets kicked out of a bar

Judge rules taverns can ban Trump supporters

“Plaintiff does not state any faith-based principle to which the hat relates,” Judge Cohen said, calling the incident a “petty” snub.

“The claim that plaintiff was not served and eventually escorted out of the bar because of his perceived support for President Trump is not outrageous conduct,” the judge ruled.

Mr. Liggieri said his client is considering whether to file an appeal.

It was an idiotic argument and the judge was right to toss the case. But asking a patron to leave for his political beliefs may not be "outrageous conduct" to a New York judge, but what about the rest of us?

If a bar owner wants to offend a lot of potential customers, that's his business. But if the owner is free to kick people out because of their support for Trump, those who support Trump - or free speech - are perfectly free to picket the owner and urge customers to stay away.

Not that this is likely to happen in New York city. But if Trump opponents are going to get away with this sort of thing, it will get worse until the other side starts to push back.

This is great news!! A judge actually agrees with a business owner’s rights to run their business. I hope this is used as precedent for the next pizza or bakery case.

Of course, to be ideologically consistent, Sap will be here shortly to tell us this ruling is wrong and that the bar should be forced to serve the person

He'd be right, about this.

No one should be a protected class.....if someone doesn’t want to do business with me, they shouldn’t be forced to.

Being a white, Christian male is the most unprotected of the unprotected classes.

What if the man was a black tranny.......could he be denied service while wearing the MAGA hat?

I agree completely. A business should be allowed to hire/fire and serve whomever they wish.

However, thanks to elected officials of the past we have laws in place to "protect" certain classes of people deemed "special". Political affiliation is not a protected class of people and the judge in this case ruled as such.

Very good. You are learning!

Political affiliation is not a federally protected class.

I am enjoying the growing intersectional cat fight between 25 Gender 'Trans-People' and The LGBBWT Crowd

Should it be?

I mean, should I be able to deny medical service to someone because they are wearing an "I'm with Her" t-shirt? "Let the Hillary supporters DIE" - Sappy.

This guy should claim he's gay.

2 black guys could probably get beer for life by wearing that hat.

Coming off of the recent Starbucks dust up, it's interesting how the near similar stories invoke different reactions.

What business model states it's smart to alienate half of your customer base?

I would have told the guy that I was sorry I did not know that his bar was a liberal toilet, and I don't have to be asked twice to leave such a dung infested cess pool.
