One of the greatest honors in my life has been to serve this country as a physician both on the battlefield with United States Marines and as proud member of the United States Navy.

It has been my distinct honor and privilege to work at the White House and serve three Presidents.

Going into this process, I expected tough questions about how to best care for our veterans, but I did not expect to have to dignify baseless and anonymous attacks on my character and integrity.

The allegations against me are completely false and fabricated. If they had any merit, I would not have been selected, promoted and entrusted to serve in such a sensitive and important role as physician to three presidents over the past 12 years.

In my role as a doctor, I have tirelessly worked to provide excellent care for all my patients. In doing so, I have always adhered to the highest ethical standards.

Unfortunately, because of how Washington works, these false allegations have become a distraction for this President and the important issue we must be addressing – how we give the best care to our nation’s heroes.

While I will forever be grateful for the trust and confidence President Trump has placed in me by giving me this opportunity, I am regretfully withdrawing my nomination to be Secretary for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

I am proud of my service to the country and will always be committed to the brave veterans who volunteer to defend our freedoms.

Let us not forget that the Republicants didn't exactly rally behind the guy - or any guy that Trump nominates that isn't one of their gang. It's easy to blame "the Democrats", but the GOP "leadership" had a hand in this too.

I listened to one of the Editorial Board members of the WSJ today at lunch today. (Can't remember his name unfortunately.) He said it sounded a awful lot like somebody leaked Jackson's FBI vetting file to the press.

Not to rain on the parade of the indoctrinated...but don't you all ever find it odd that every accusation ever made was baseless?

Do you really believe that this man had the creds to run the VA??? He's never managed more than a few hundred people. That qualifies him to manage an agency with a few hundred thousand???

Someone leaked his FBI vetting file??? Based on the SOP of this Administration they didn't bother to do any vetting. The doc simply went on TV and praised Trump, bowed and kissed the ring of the King...that is all the vetting Trump does.

The moment anything gets dicey, Trump steps on the gas pedal of the Access Hollywood and runs over whoever is in his way. Admiral Jackson wasn't a distraction...or maybe more to the point he wasn't a distraction that was engineered by Trump to get the porn stars, playmates, and showers of different colors off the front page.

No, only the accusations made against R nominees are baseless :sarcasm:

My question is why would he drop out if the accusations are baseless? If there is no truth to it he could and should stay the course and force the accusers to come forward. However, I have a feeling he knew there would be a long line of credible folks coming out with claims if he did.

Don't you ever find it odd that all these people were stellar pillars of society and lauded across the board....until they were nominated for a position in the Trump administration?

Don't you find it odd that all these people were buddy buddy with Trump and loved him...until it became clear that he was going to give Hillary a run for her money (and win)?

Don't you find it odd that not a word of this was ever mentioned...until it became politically expedient to do so?

And you have the nerve to call anyone else "indoctrinated".

He's a freaking Admiral. You act like he just wandered in out of the woods - "Hey, there, Daddy, kin I be in charge of yore VA?" If there were truth to any of it, #1, there would be names attached to the accusations. As it stands we have a bunch of anonymous sources who supposedly told some Democrat congresstard all this stuff.

#2, you say he should stand and fight - why? Why should he put himself and his family through that crap? Especially if it's not true, why would he want to deal with that?

This is why we can't have nice things: because nobody sane wants to go through vicious attacks or wants to put their family through it. How about if your side stops with the bull#### and looks at someone's merits instead of the juvenile and ugly #resist?

I know you don’t pay a lot of attention to how things actually work, but there have been plenty of instances where folks with great credentials and high positions in the military and government get outed during confirmation.
The reason an innocent person would fight that #### is because they are innocent. It’s really that simple.

Have you been paying attention to how things are working, now? Have you ever seen a prez as embattled as Trump? That should tell you something about where our Country was/is headed. Were/are you ok with that?

No criminal charges have been filed, so there's nothing to fight. All it is is a pack of sketchy accusations and rumors pushed by the Democrats with no evidence whatsoever.

I know you'd like to see him continue to be bullied by your pals and have his family in the crosshairs so they can be destroyed as well. Sorry he thwarted your plan. Guess you'll have to go back to pulling the wings off of flies and stomping kittens.

:killingme

I have no idea what evidence there is, but if he knows there isn’t any he would coast past those accusations just like the rest of the nominees do. No evidence = nothing to worry about.

How does turning tail and running do anything about the “bullying”? All of those accusations now stand uncontested.

From what I've seen in Washington - it is JUST as easy to believe an innocent person would just walk away rather than be put through it.
It's also every bit as easy to believe a GUILTY person might fight it because their career is on the line and they're pretty sure they'll get away with it.
Money talks and bull#### walks.
