Trump pulls US out of Iran nuclear deal

President Donald Trump on Tuesday pulled the United States out of an international agreement aimed at stopping Iran from obtaining a nuclear bomb, and said he would reimpose economic sanctions on Tehran immediately.

The 2015 deal, worked out by the United States, five other international powers and Iran, eased sanctions on Iran in exchange for Tehran limiting its nuclear program.

1. This Deal Never Should Have Been Signed. For all the reasons Trump mentions, this deal never should have been signed. Team Obama lied brazenly to the American people about the newfound moderation of the Rouhani government; the Rouhani government is a terrorist government. The deal does nothing about Iran’s missile programs or terror funding. The United States now provides cash to pay for both. And Iran has no intention of disarming; they’ll merely delay until it’s worthwhile not to do so anymore.

2. The Deal Prevented Concerted Action. The deal didn’t merely remove sanctions on Iran. It effectively blocked America’s allies from doing anything to stop the Iranian nuclear forward motion. If Israel and Saudi Arabia had attacked Iranian facilities, they would have been cross-ways with the United States and the Europeans. The deal effectively made Tehran an ally, and our real allies enemies.

3. The Deal Was Never Approved By The Senate. Obama worked out a pathetic arrangement with Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) to reverse the normal course of procedure for treaty approval – instead of 60 senators being required to greenlight a treaty, now it would take 60 senators to kill the treaty. That was never Constitutional. Trump is right to abrogate the deal on those grounds alone.

The US, once again, looks smaller and less relevant.

Once again America First has been turned into America Last.

I read Kim Jung Un was meeting with the leader of China again the past few days...gee...wonder what they were talking about...

Sometimes it is better to be thought a fool than to open your yap and prove it.

I am genuinely curious, can you explain to me how this makes the US look smaller and less relevant?

..... former United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power tweeted. "Trump has demolished America's credibility & paved the way for Iran to re-start its nuclear program. Trump has done the unthinkable: isolated the US & rallied the world around Iran."

Then there was amateur-fiction-writer-turned-professional-fiction-writer Ben Rhodes, a former Obama national security aide, who tweeted, "One tragicomic element of Trump's presidency is that the more he tries to tear down Obama's legacy, the bigger he makes Obama look." Meanwhile, former Secretary of State John Kerry, who had been traveling the world in an attempt to conduct his own personal foreign policy on behalf of the mullahs, stated, "Today's announcement weakens our security, breaks America's word, isolates us from our European allies, puts Israel at greater risk, empowers Iran's hardliners, and reduces our global leverage to address Tehran's misbehavior."

Obama himself stated, "Walking away from the JCPOA turns our back on America's closest allies."

Nothing in the deal stopped the nuclear program. It actually gave a time-table to allowing a nuclear weapons program.

It does not break America's word, because America did not give its word. That would have required Senate ratification.

It DID however demonstrate that Obama could not have accomplished that, and tried to sneak a presidential agreement in as an actual treaty. We were under no obligation whatsoever to live up to it previously (which is why Trump could exit it so easily). It makes Obama appear as he was, small and weak.

Our security was not improved, nor was Israel's security, by the agreement so therefore there is no reduction by not being part of an agreement that had no enforceable points except pallets of cash being delivered to Iran. That was accomplished. We have no less leverage than we had before, nor with, the agreement.

Obama himself stated, "Walking away from the JCPOA turns our back on America's closest allies."

In what way, Mr. President? There was nothing enforceable in the deal on either side, except the delivery of cash which happened. Walking away from the deal and having the deal are equals, except now it shows you, Mr. President, were too feckless to actually get the deal approved by the Senate turning it into an enforceable treaty. As it was, it was the exact same thing as a campaign promise on the internet - it meant nothing.
