It’s fun to compare this rhetoric to Democratic rhetoric about groups that actually are terrorist organizations:

She also rebuffed [Oliver] North’s contention that the pressure the NRA now faces has “never been seen against a civil rights organization in America,” and is worse than “the terrible days of Jim Crow.”

She then attacked recently-appointed NRA President Oliver North's recent comments that gun rights are facing the strongest opposition to a civil right since the Jim Crow era by suggesting the NRA is actually responsible for mass murder.

“The Jim Crow laws actually resulted in the deaths of people standing up for their rights,” Wasserman Schultz said. “People that are dying as a result of the infection that is the spread of assault weapons thanks to the NRA are being murdered in cold blood without any cessation or interest on the part of the NRA to do anything about it.”

Schultz has been struggling for relevance since being booted from her position at the helm of the Democratic National Committee, thanks to a leak of DNC emails which revealed Wasserman Schultz's internal machinations in the service of then-Democratic primary candidate Hillary Clinton. She's hitched her wagon to the gun issue after the shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School, which took place in her district.

Less than 24 hours after a student stormed into the Parkland, Florida school, murdering nearly 20 students in one of the worst school shootings in history, Wasserman Schultz was using her Congressional connections to organize and promote anti-gun Parkland students, and conducting the first steps in a media blitz that would drive unprecedented discussion about the Second Amendment, but a record-breaking wave of donations and support for her sworn enemy, the NRA.
