...Obama would pardon all those drug dealers and terrorists and not pardon Jack Johnson or Muhammed Ali? You'd think that would be a great symbolic gesture for not only Black Americans, but whites would have appreciated it as well. I know a posthumous pardon doesn't mean a hill of chit, but it still would have been a nice gesture.

The U.S Supreme Court overturned the conviction of Muhammad Ali in a unanimous decision in 1971. There's no conviction to pardon.

Except that a Presidential pardon of Ali would make it two-out-of-three branches of government agree that Ali was wronged. Then see how fast the Democrats post a bill to pardon the champion.

What would he pardon? SCOTUS already reversed Ali's conviction. Ali's attorney said as much.
Ali’s lawyer Ron Tweel released a statement Friday, saying an additional pardon from Trump would be unnecessary.

“We appreciate President Trump’s sentiment, but a pardon is unnecessary,” Tweel said, referencing the Supreme Court case. “There is no conviction from which a pardon is needed.”

OJ Simpson is probably next.

Maybe Obama, unlike our current President, knew that he couldn't pardon a conviction that was overturned? (Trump said his people were looking into the Ali pardon...either Trump was lying about the Ali thing or Trump's people are just as incompetent as he is.)

Or would you call this just "leftist haters nitpicking" again???

Trump is a buffoon...some day you will understand....maybe.

Or maybe Trump can advocate that the Salem witches be pardoned...of course that occurred before the US existed...but, as the Ali commentary proves, facts and reality are just nuisances to be avoided by this President and his cult.

Cassius was a terrific race baiter. Read his autobiography and you can see his hate for whitey, written in his own words.

Heck, his museum in Louisville is a "hate white people" testimony.

I sort of doubt I will ever visit Cassius Clay's Museum.
Cassius was a pretty smart guy and a great boxer, who didn't know when to quit.
Too many blows to the head just aren't conducive to good mental health.
Any person that is involved with Farrakhan and his sham Muslim religion is a hater and a racist.
It goes with the territory.

Doesn't it Maxine.

Actually a conviction being overturned doesn't erase it from your records and will still follow you until you spend thousands on an expungement OR a governor (or a President) pardons you.

So unless Ali went through the expungement process the criminal record is still there until Trump pardons him. You run a check on Ali the arrest and conviction would still show up.

BUT of course you're smart enough to know this already (aren't you?) and are just piling on because that's what you were told to do?

Or are you not that smart?

Actually for a Fact, a person at least in Maryland can do there own paperwork for State and Federal expungement. It's not that hard, no attorney required.

But again.. if Ali didn't have his record expunged, the criminal record is still there.. lawyer, self filing papers or not.

Absolutely, and it has to be done correctly to make sure the Federal databases have been purged along with the states databases.

We surely wouldn't want an erroneous NICS search to prevent Ali from getting a firearm.

So, you mention who did get pardoned, Jack Johnson, and Ali. The only thing some people could focus on is Ali.

Try the question again without Ali and see if those people have any answers.
