Ted Cruz introduces legislation to keep immigrant families together after they cross the border
The provisions of the legislation, according to the news release, include:

* Doubling the number of federal immigration judges, from roughly 375 to 750.
* Authorizing new temporary shelters with accommodations to keep families together.
* Mandating that immigrant families be kept together, absent aggravated criminal conduct or threat of harm to children.
* Providing for expedited processing and review of asylum cases so that — within 14 days — those who meet the legal standards will be granted asylum and those who do not will be immediately returned to their home countries.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, Texas' senior senator and the second-ranking Senate Republican, said on the chamber floor earlier Monday that he, too, would introduce legislation on this front.

New GOP plan: Hold kids longer at border _ but with parents

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republicans on Capitol Hill frantically searched on Tuesday for ways to end the Trump administration’s policy of separating families after illegal border crossings, with the focus shifting on a new plan to keep children in detention longer than now permitted — but with their parents.

House GOP leaders are revising their legislation amid a public outcry over the administration’s “zero tolerance” approach to illegal crossings. The change would loosen rules that now limit the amount of time minors can be held to 20 days, according to a GOP source familiar with the measure. Instead, the children could be detained for extended periods — alongside their parents.

Oh boy...how many millions are we going to spend on fancy new "family friendly" detention centers? And how quickly?

All they need to do is reduce the number of steps involved - and hence the amount of time required - to turn their sorry asses right around and send them back across that border...the border that needs to be sealed off.

This right here ^^^

It's pretty easy to keep families together: don't allow them in illegally in the first place.

Could be a good use for all those FEMA trailers, family living inside the 12 foot chain link.

Bingo!

I've worked at yards along the Gulf Coast for a long time and remember, not long after Katrina, driving by the many massive "marshaling yards" full of the tens of thousands of mostly new and some slightly used cheap camper trailers that sat ...and sat....and sat..until eventually they were crushed.

Tranny probably still lives in one of those. ;-)

But seriously...FEMA took every trailer back, no matter what the circumstances. Gal right here on SGI received one after Hurricane Isabel wrecked her home. And FEMA sent a crew in to fetch it without a moment's notice when her "time was up", despite the fact that a) her house was not even close to being finished thanks to bureaucratic red-tap delays and b) the trailer was going straight to one of the scrapping yards.

Our gummint..here to help.

The media, slowly transforming the definitions one illegal at a time. Those who were once Illegal Aliens became Undocumented Aliens, then they became Undocumented Immigrants, and now the they are Immigrants. True immigrants should be outraged.

From the IRS sites definitions of terms:Immigrant
An alien who has been granted the right by the USCIS to reside permanently in the United States and to work without restrictions in the United States. Such an individual is also known as a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR). All immigrants are eventually issued a "green card" (USCIS Form I-551), which is the evidence of the alien’s LPR status. LPR’s who are awaiting the issuance of their green cards may bear an I-551 stamp in their foreign passports.

At least the Mexicans won't complain about the brand new trailers the way evacuees of the "Chocolate City (and similar)" would.
