Unemployment is caused when "businesses" (yea the evil ones) are not profitable and have to reduce labor costs. Contributing factors in loss of profitability include; excessive labor costs due to union strong arming ; taxes and governmental regulation; and market saturation or decreased demand (internet bubble).
