59% dislike Trump as a person

August 14, 2018 - U.S. Voters Dislike Trump Almost 2-1, Quinnipiac

Only 31 percent of American voters like President Donald Trump as a person, while 59 percent dislike him, according to a Quinnipiac University National Poll released today.

For those who can't understand the English...this is not a policy approval question...this is about Trump the human being. 59% dislike him as a person. This fits two things: 1. it is right in line with the 30-35% of people who will support this man no matter what he does or says (the prototypical somd.com forum poster). 2. It reinforces the fact that there was something wrong in the upbringing of those 30-35% of people. Trump's demeanor is that of a spoiled, vindictive and totally self absorbed child. He has no redeeming qualities.

Republicans like Trump 66 - 24 percent, the only listed party, gender, education, age or racial group which likes him, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University National Poll finds.

That says a lot as well. Even among party loyalists, his likeability is terrible. That should be well up into the 80s.

All of you who sit on here and wonder why Trump's approval ratings aren't better because the economy is doing well just completely fail to understand that, as a person, Trump is everything you should teach your kids not to be.

46% of independents "disapprove strongly" of how Trump is handling the job as President. That this 10% more than "approve" with any level of satisfaction.

58% of total respondents don't think Trump is doing enough to help the middle class.

None of these numbers are really new. Trump's like/dislike numbers don't really move around much which is not a surprise. Trump sucks at being President. He has made no effort at all to "broaden the tent". He has made no effort at all to increase the size or appeal of the Republican party. He has made no effort at all to do anything for anyone...except himself. (Please don't mention tax cuts...that had nothing to do with Trump...that was Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell.) That Trump has made no effort to help anyone but himself is also not surprising. The man has no deeply held values other than enriching himself. The man has no deeply held policy values.

AGAIN, progkiddies, we didn't elect Donald Trump to be our best friend and come hang out with us. We elected him to do a job.

Why is that so hard to understand?

I really don't like him either, and based on how the question was posed would have probably answered in the affirmative.

What I do like is what he has gotten done so far, and especially that he makes your head all splodey.

Because for Democrats it's not important to do what's right for the country.. it's all about firsts.. and popularity.

Who cares if they are a rapist, a crook, as long as they're likable they will elect them..

Heaven forbid somebody does what actually NEEDS to be done for the good of our country.. that is totally unacceptable to them.

I actually like Trump. I like it that he fights back and doesn't roll over like other prog attack victims. He comes across as a decent person, and in doing so makes his spittle-flinging attackers look even more unhinged. He has guts and isn't afraid to come off the top rope, even when he's being seriously ganged up on. I think he has heart and integrity, and stays focused on the goal. Plus he has energy to spare. Good grief. This guy does more in a day than other presidents have accomplished in a month, or even a year, or even their whole entire lives.

I'll tell you who I didn't like, and that was Barack Obama. Smarmy, condescending, aloof, elitist. I liked Michelle, but Barry was effete and ridiculous. His "arugula" comment just highlighted how out of touch he was with everyday people. It was the equivalent of Hillary putting on that insulting hick accent when talking to anyone outside of Manhattan.

She's another one I didn't like. As personable as her husband is, Hillary always comes off as your scolding 5th grade teacher who's just marking time with the savages until she can retire with full pension. She looks mean. She comes across as mean. Her voice is mean. They cry and whine about Trump being "mean" for calling things what they are - Hillary Clinton is the Queen of Mean, and you can tell she is ####ty to "the help" and treats her waitstaff like crap.

Trump, by all accounts, treats people nicely and with respect....until they attack him. Then he opens up a can and whips their ass for them. I respect that and have a favorable impression of him as a person.

NO ONE Gives a F u c k ... Trump was elected to do a JOB, not be popular

Yeah That is Real Nice ONCE AGAIN YOUR OPINION

:tantrum

Every post you make is against anyone or any group that doesn't conform to your propagandist viewpoints.

You Were Saying .... You Miserable Git

:blahblah:

That says a lot as well. Even among party loyalists, his likeability is terrible. That should be well up into the 80s.

and he is ... among Republican's Trump routinely polls above 80%

once again methodology ....... and what neighborhoods were the calls made to ? LA, NYC, Brandywine West Virginia
Independent can always be counted to swing to the left in these polls ......

GOP - 28 %
DEM - 32 %
IND - 32 %
Other - 8 %

All of you who sit on here and wonder why Trump's approval ratings aren't better because the economy is doing well just completely fail to understand that, as a person, Trump is everything you should teach your kids not to be.

yeah ok ..... don't teach your children to strive to be better, not to take s h i t from anyone ... teach them to be Beta Males ..

46% of independents "disapprove strongly" of how Trump is handling the job as President. That this 10% more than "approve" with any level of satisfaction.

yeah those 'independents are the ones constantly leaning left in EVERY Poll since the Election

None of these numbers are really new. Trump's like/dislike numbers don't really move around much which is not a surprise. Trump sucks at being President.

Fantasy, Supposition, Innuendo and Unfounded OPINION

He has made no effort at all to "broaden the tent". He has made no effort at all to increase the size or appeal of the Republican party.

WTF are you talking about .... no one else is 'coming on board' that isn't already 'on board' and why is it Trumps JOB to expand the Party ....
the GOP Leadership still HATES Trump

Dumb-ass Trump was the ANTI-Establishment Candidate .... he was elected because he was NOT a Party Bot

He has made no effort at all to do anything for anyone...except himself. (Please don't mention tax cuts ... that had nothing to do with Trump ... that was Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell.)

wanna back that up with some facts sugar tits .......

That Trump has made no effort to help anyone but himself is also not surprising. The man has no deeply held values other than enriching himself. The man has no deeply held policy values.

:bs:

he has steadily dismantled Obama's Progressive Legacy ...... cutting 1000's regulations from the Gov Books

Be Specific how is Trump 'enriching' himself ....
do you mean like Hillary and Biden - the back charge fees to the Secret Service matched the mortgages on their houses

 you mean that enrichment

Here are a few other things that Mr. Trump has done:

• Appointed Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch and more than 75 other constitutionally sound federal judges, 30 of which are serving.

• Reinstated an expanded Mexico City Policy blocking foreign aid from being used for abortions.

• Cracked down on illegal immigration and “sanctuary cities.” As Attorney General Jeff Sessions put it: “The lawlessness, the abdication of the duty to enforce our laws, and the catch and release policies of the past are over.”

• Issued an order killing two federal regulations for every new one. In actuality, 16 were cut for every new one in his first year, saving billions.

• Engineered a historic tax cut that will save money for more than 80 percent of American households.

• Withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement, ending the threat of U.S. governance by international bureaucrats.

• Reversed onerous Obama environmental rules that gave the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ham-handed authority to destroy the coal industry and abrogate landowners’ rights.

• Kick-started America’s energy sector by curtailing regulations, facilitating the Keystone XL Pipeline and opening up vast federal areas to oil and gas exploration.

• Presided over an economic and stock market boom, lowered unemployment and brought manufacturing jobs back to America from overseas.

• Rebuilt the nation’s military, destroyed ISIS and faced down North Korea’s “Rocket Man.”

• Issued an order enforcing First Amendment protections for religious liberty.

• Restored the freedom of military chaplains to espouse biblical morality, and essentially reversing Mr. Obama’s transgender military policy.

• Revoked the Education Department’s order that public schools allow gender-confused males access to girls’ restrooms and locker rooms.

• Cracked down on sex trafficking. President Trump signed a law allowing states to move against sex-ad Internet sites, and the Justice Department on April 6 seized and shut down Backpage.com, which carried ads for prostitution, including trafficked children.

• Overhauled the mismanaged Veterans Administration and giving veterans more health care choices.

• Replaced Obamacare incrementally, beginning with a repeal of the individual mandate.

• Imposed sanctions on Venezuela’s socialist dictatorship and revising Mr. Obama’s deals with communist Cuba.

• Recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and repairing damage that Mr. Obama did to the U.S.-Israel relationship.

• Worked with Central American nations to crack down on MS-13 gangs.

OK, let’s stop here, though it only scratches the surface.

This is the pertinent question, in my opinion.

It's not that they don't like him, because they don't know him. It's that they dislike what they've been told about him - some of which is true, much of which is not.

The second pertinent point has also been made repeatedly - it does not really matter if you'd like to have a beer with the guy. I'd like to have a beer with a lot of people, not a single one of which I believe would be able to do 1/3 of what Trump has done as president.

For those who can't understand the English...this is not a policy approval question...this is about Trump the human being. 59% dislike him

From your article, "Responses are reported for 1,175 self-identified registered voters with a margin of
sampling error of +/- 3.4 percentage points, including the design effect." so...BFD

Since you claim to perfectly understand the English, you should try to focus on how to read a poll.

I'm not sure *I* do. I will still vote to re-elect him.

I don't like the man at the head of our department. He just rubs me the wrong way.
He comports himself like a politician and he often drones on endlessly at meetings.

He's also a VERY strong advocate for lots of proposals and policies that make my life and work
SO MUCH EASIER.

So - do I like him. Nope. Not at all.
Do I support him? Oh absolutely. I remember his predecessors. He's almost the best one ever.
He drives me nuts sometimes. He's the kind of guy who'll say what a great job you're doing and
call you by the wrong name. But he does his job well. That's all I ask.

I'm puzzled by the constant drumbeat of being "unfit". Because the kinds of things he does and
what he brought to the table isn't much different from many others - at least as far as complaints.
We had a President who held a dog up by his ears, used the N word and would whip out his
Johnson at staff meetings. Liberals LOVE this guy. We just had a President who came into office
with almost no experience at all. Of any kind. I have liberal relatives who say "I miss that guy".
We had a President whose sexual dalliances - in the White House - were legendary. Aside from
the national security conflicts - I mean, damn. Press secretaries, ordinary secretaries, movie stars.
He once said if he didn't have sex every day, he'd get a headache. And it wasn't Jackie.

Unfit. If you're talking "character" - he's no different from many. If you're talking EXPERIENCE,
he's way ahead of many.

We had a guy on our softball team who worked in the Clinton White House - and this was in the 90's, so his stories were current.
Oh yeah. This was a mean lady. When she was in a sour mood, the word spread quickly - you might want to be scarce.
Stuff broken. Insults. (I do know another woman who worked there, but she refrains from discussing ANYTHING there).

They'd be coming back from some function - and the Secret Service would be right outside while they stayed inside the limo.
Staff knew - they're fighting. Inside the limo, they had a small amount of privacy, but everyone knew what was going on.
