So what do you suppose...

...Serena Williams did to make the press dogpile on her and misrepresent what actually happened at the US Open?

Anyone who actually watched the match saw the whole thing, so they know that Serena didn't have an "epic meltdown", nor was she a "sore loser", nor did Naomi Osaka cry because Serena was mean to her. This is not stopping the "reporters" from telling lies, and it's not stopping people who didn't see it and don't follow tennis to bitch and cry about Serena and call her a bunch of names.

Did she come out as a Trump supporter or something?

Sports reporters ask really stupid questions, ever see one of Nick Saban's interactions with sports reporters?

They try to create drama when there is none, anything to try to sell a story.

I characterized her (on my FB Page-not here) the way I felt she deserved after reading a couple of stories, and seeing a clip of the outburst on TV this morning. Much like I do after reading about and hearing about something in politics after a day at work, when I didn't see it live.

The only thing I can say that I would change after seeing various clips and reading another story or two, is that I stand corrected in that Naomi wasn't crying due to Serena's behavior or outburst. Overall, I do think the stress of winning and beating her idol and the huge uproar during the ceremony probably did contribute to her being emotional, but Serena didn't intend to cause that. (Though, I didn't personally ever say she did--just that the hoopla was due to the outburst and then that all kind of tainted Naomi's recognition.) This was the last story I read on the whole thing https://www.news.com.au/sport/tenni...n/news-story/a64f8dbdbca65145ef735f52ea0d2132

I don't follow tennis on a regular basis, but I remember that John McEnroe used to behave badly a LOT, and I seem to recall that he was always in hot water, with fines, suspensions, etc. However, I would have said the same about him, because I think that athletes throwing temper tantrums and arguing with referees is unsportsmanlike. The degrees to which they behave badly, notwithstanding, it's all wrong and they should just take their lumps when they do it. :ohwell:

John McEnroe used to behave badly a LOT

John McEnroe used to spit on the officials and cuss them. He used to hit balls at them. He didn't *just* bust his racket, he used it like a bat to bust up everything around him. He and Jimmy Connors went nose to nose and almost got into a fistfight. He was an amazingly entertaining poor sport.

Serena has a ways to go before she's even close to being in his category.

:lmao: Bff played tennis and she used to keep up with it. I do remember him as being quite bad. :yay:

I get it, but then she shouldn't be yelling at the officials that they are sexist. Perhaps THIS official is, currently, and that's what she means. But historically there have been male athletes who were disorderly and did get penalized.

Who cares? We have more important things to worry about...like socialism, communism, and a coup to unseat a prez. 86 mil...:faint:

Saw it on tv and heard her call the judge a thief. I think she behaved poorly, she wouldn't keep her mouth closed and the more she yelled the more penalties she received. I think it could've been handled in a more appropriate way than screaming at the judge and calling him a sexist.

The pro tennis community agrees with Serena - male players receive warnings, not penalties, for minor violations like coaching and racket abuse (racket abuse ). Here are instances of that same official taking flak from male players ( and white female players), with no point penalties issued.

I don't blame Serena for being upset and challenging it. Not to mention her adrenaline was pumping anyway, now she's pissed on top of it, and pretty much lost control. Serena has ALWAYS been a gracious loser - always. Other players love her because she's not an ego diva. But she gets singled out a LOT by the various tennis entities. The French Tennis Federation just recently changed their dress code, specifically targeting Serena's outfits. She gets singled out for drug testing - she is tested far more often than other players.

If it were me, I'd be throwing the race card.

Yep. As proven many, many times by your TOTB syndrome. It was pure comedy. MmmKay :coffee:

Only outmatched by your obsessive need to chase me around the forums and make yourself look foolish with ad hominem insults.

Now I'm done giving you attention and you can run to your Mommy.

I can see where she would be upset, but, as I said, I think the whole thing could've been handled in a more civilized manner than screaming, name calling and throwing her racket. If it had been a baseball player arguing with the ump about a call, he would be thrown out of the game. I'm not sure why Tennis seems to have so many "temperamental" athletes. I would say the same thing about any athlete, who would behave this way during a game or set.

What? No pics to impress? C'mon ole' man... lets see what you got. Maybe you will impress someone before your time is up. It is attention and accolades that you are attempting to get from random internet peoples right? Where are the pathetic attempts to impress that we have all come to know out of you?

Oh wait! People on here "know you" right? That is definitely a bragging point :lmao: Hey everyone.. I am super duper great friends with these people who I chat with online. Yay! A full life vindicated :yay:

Now, go sip some Mexican pizz in your husky jorts while you research the next proposed offshore wind farm :buddies:
