The fall foliage in the Adirondacks is unparalleled. The High Peaks Region (Lake Placid, Tupper Lake area) is coming up on peak viewing. The St. Lawrence Valley (Malone, Chateaugay, Plattsburgh) area is a few weeks later and somewhat cheaper. Lots of apple and harvest festivals around Plattsburgh, Chazy and Peru. A side trip to the St. Lawrence Seaway is cool too or take a trip to the 1000 Islands Region and tour the island mansions. http://www.boldtcastle.com/visitorinfo/

It is well worth the trip!

Okay, taking a hot air balloon ride over the fall foliage in the Adirondacks would be AMAZING.

Soon to be better for some of us. Chazy orchards and Rolf’s (Peru) are two of our stopping points in the area. Ausable Chasm is pretty cool too. Arnie’s restaurant in Plattsburgh has been there almost forever. Now that GP is pumping some life back into the paper plant, things might get a little better for the locals.

Lake Placid is a charming little town. I went to where the Olympics were held. They had some bobsledders doing training. We were able to walk right up and watch them zip past us. They need 1 of those rides in Disneyland.
