Did US Intel know about Saudi plot to detain Khashoggi?

U.S. intelligence intercepts reveal that Mohammed bin Salman, crown prince of Saudi Arabia, hatched a plot to lure missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi from Virginia to Saudi Arabia where he planned to capture him, according to a Wednesday Washington Post report.

Khashoggi has been missing since last week when he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to obtain documentation to marry his fiancée. Per Turkish officials, he was murdered in the consulate upon arrival.

Asked in a telephone interview with Fox News Channel late on Wednesday whether Saudis were responsible for Khashoggi’s disappearance or death, Trump said: “I guess you would have to say so far it’s looking a little bit like that and we’re going to have to see.”

Paul, a Kentucky Republican, said Tuesday he would force a vote to reject sales the next time the U.S. government informs lawmakers of a planned shipment, a response to the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was last seen entering the consulate.

In 2017, Paul narrowly failed to block $110 billion in sales to Saudi Arabia over its involvement in Yemen’s civil war. The resolution failed on a 47-53 vote, with Republicans Mike Lee of Utah, Todd Young of Indiana, and Dean Heller of Nevada joining Paul in voting against the sales.

U.S. Intelligence is a misnomer.An Oxymoron.

Between Bush and Obama we have no intelligence agency any longer.
Bush didn't help but Brennan totally destroyed the CIA, it is as useless teats on a bull.

I mean it is kind of sorted, gruesome and a bit bloodthirsty if the reports are true - the guy was killed and dismembered

The Consulate is considered Saudi Arabia ... so it is on them .... suddenly we should again be sticking out noses in 'Muslim' Businesses

Well, the left is outraged because the k man was a WaPo reporter. Now if he had been a fetus, it wouldn’t have presented a problem. You liberals have no problem with killing/torturing a fetus.

I'm not losing any sleep over a deceased member of the Muslim Brotherhood

https://spectator.us/2018/10/jamal-khashoggi/

In truth, Khashoggi never had much time for western-style pluralistic democracy. In the 1970s he joined the Muslim Brotherhood, which exists to rid the Islamic world of western influence. He was a political Islamist until the end, recently praising the Muslim Brotherhood in the Washington Post. He championed the ‘moderate’ Islamist opposition in Syria, whose crimes against humanity are a matter of record. Khashoggi frequently sugarcoated his Islamist beliefs with constant references to freedom and democracy. But he never hid that he was in favour of a Muslim Brotherhood arc throughout the Middle East. His recurring plea to bin Salman in his columns was to embrace not western-style democracy, but the rise of political Islam which the Arab Spring had inadvertently given rise to. For Khashoggi, secularism was the enemy.

The Muslim Brotherhood, though, has always been at odds with the Wahhabi movement. Khashoggi and his fellow travellers believe in imposing Islamic rule by engaging in the democratic process. The Wahhabis loathe democracy as a western invention. Instead, they choose to live life as it supposedly existed during the time of the Muslim prophet. In the final analysis, though, they are different means to achieving the same goal: Islamist theocracy. This matters because, although bin Salman has rejected Wahhabism — to the delight of the West — he continues to view the Muslim Brotherhood as the main threat most likely to derail his vision for a new Saudi Arabia. Most of the Islamic clerics in Saudi Arabia who have been imprisoned over the past two years — Khashoggi’s friends — have historic ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Khashoggi had therefore emerged as a de facto leader of the Saudi branch. Due to his profile and influence, he was the biggest political threat to bin Salman’s rule outside of the royal family.

Jamal Khashoggi was good buddies with Osama bin Laden. Google it.

I really don't give a crap about him. Is he an American citizen? No, just a legal resident. So why is this any of our business?
