What's with that? Elizabeth Warren has a drop of Native American blood, so she thinks she's a Cherokee squaw. Beto O'Rourke once had a Mexican clean his hotel room, so now he's trying to pass as Hispanic.

Beto, I get it - apparently it's a nickname he's had his whole life. It's a Hispanic nickname for "Roberto" and he grew up in El Paso. He's milking that for all it's worth to win the illegal immigrant vote (because Mexican-Americans are too smart to fall for that).

But Elizabeth Warren? She did a DNA test that showed she *might* have a Native American ancestor 6 or 10 generations ago, so she's peddling that as an "I win! Pay up!" to her dumbass bot club.

Do ya'll need a history on "one drop rule"? Please say no.

So anyway, her and her bots are all over social media insisting that she IS a Native American, and Donald Trump has to pay up his famous bet that he'd give $1 million to the charity of her choice if DNA turned up legitimate Native American ancestry. He's telling her to piss up a rope.

Also told a story where her father's family was totally against their son marrying a native American woman and they had to elope..but then someone came up with a wedding announcement and pictures of a big wedding. Heap big lies in her past.

I'm still trying to figure out why identity politics matter.

My guess is:

It's divisive and groupthink, which leads to cult-like behavior and "us vs. them" mentality. There is a certain school of political thought that says that is the way to get votes. As in, you don't appeal to the mainstream Americans, but if you can cultivate all these small groups that have nothing in common and are many times are in direct opposition to each other, you can gain power over them.

Unfortunately, at some point you have to deliver. If you pander to gays, who are not loved by blacks and Hispanics, you have to actually give them something or they'll figure out that you're full of it. But if you give them what they want, you alienate their opponents, whom you've also made promises to and pandered for their vote. Abortion seems to bring a lot of the groups together, but Hispanics by and large are not pro-choice - in fact they are mostly pro-life. So you have to promise them something in order to make up for them hating your abortion stance. Voila! Sanctuary cities and promoting illegal immigration.

It starts becoming cumbersome, which is what you're seeing with the Democrat Party right now. They've tried to be a bunch of specific things to a bunch of specific groups, and have ended up being nothing at all. So now they're throwing that Hail Mary pass, even though the group they're pandering to now makes up maybe 1% of the country and everyone else thinks they're nuts.

But that's just a guess.

which part is false? The DNA indicates she did have a NA ancestor in the same aprroxiamte time frame

Really? Because the published results said they used a comparison to other not native american (as in native US american) groups. And having 1.5% at most similar DNA could be a fluke. There are independent groups that developed blue eyes that have no known cultural intermixing. Many northern europeans have more neanderthal DNA than EW has "native american" DNA.

Take it up with science Mo. the scientist said around 6 generations ago. That makes it her ancestor.

6 to 10. That's a huge range. And this was with a non-direct comparison, but rather a comparison to other north american groups that may have similar DNA.

But heres the kicker. Europeans have been coming to the Americas for a long time. Some of them for a VERY long time (Lief Ericcson?). Is it possible that the DNA they used for comparison may have had some European mixed in to begin with (seems especially likely if they used DNA from Mexico as mentioned)?

Probably not an issue if the test says you are 98.8% Native American, and you thought you were 100%. But if instead you are 1.2% Native American it may be a big factor.

The part where she *is* Native American - no, she is not.

Also the part where she was discriminated against because she's Cherokee - no, she wasn't, and no, she's not.

In fact the whole thing is false.

Exactly. But Mo has a bone in his teeth because she's one of those he has to defend; it's his job. So good luck getting around that.
