Revelation 11:5 If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die. 6 They have power to shut up the heavens so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.

This is about the two witnesses who are going to talk "Salvation" for the latter part of the tribulation. Can you imagine.... two guys telling people to "Repent" in today's society. It's going to be annoying and people are going to get angry. People are going to want to shut these two guys up. What a shock those people are going to get if they do decide to shut down this mission. These two guys are armoured up with special tricks from God Himself.

Of course the amazingdiscoveries.org site has a different idea of the meaning.

There is a penalty for misrepresenting Bible truths and teaching error, Revelation 22:18. Here the “two witnesses” are represented as bringing Some Old Testament style punishment on those who “hurt” the scriptures by their false teachings. Medieval Europe suffered terribly from wars, famines and disease that killing millions of people because of the church’s rejection of the scriptures.

I recall Amazing Discoveries site states that two witness represent the Old and New Testaments.... but here the witness are bringing the punishment.

This is from the easy English site.

These two verses show the strange power that these men had. Many people wanted to hurt them but none could. Those who tried died. Fire came from the mouths of the two men. Elijah had called down fire from heaven to kill two bands of soldiers (2 Kings 1:10-12).

Like Elijah, these men could stop the rain (1 Kings 17:1). They did this for the period of 42 months. Like Moses, they could turn water into blood (Exodus 7:14-18). God had given to them more power than he gave to any of the prophets. They could use this power as often as they wanted. They had the power to hurt people and to cause damage on the earth.

This tidbit is from the blueletterbible.org site.

In the ancient Greek grammar, all the nouns used to speak of the two witnesses in this passage are in the masculine gender. The two witnesses are definitely two men.

No one is going to be able to shut these two up.....No more than they could shut down God's plan to rescue Israel from Pharoah, no more than they could shut Elijah up, no more than any of those old kings in the old testament could make it rain when God called in a draught, no more than pharoah could deal with all those frogs or locusts, no more than pharoah could save his own first born..... Nope these two are going to have their say.... or God's say.... to be more accurate.
